Oscar Poppa...

...has a new look and a new home.

Check it out and update your blogrolls and/or daily site visits accordingly.

A Good First Step

Why looky here:
Clamping down on straw purchases would stem the flow of illegal guns into the city.

A good first step would be to enact a state law limiting handgun purchases to one a month per buyer.
And what did our good pal Tom Ferrick Jr. have to say about "straw purchases"?
No one is pretending that this one-handgun-a-month ban is the cure-all, but it is a start.
This is actually a dusting off of an old argument. I first wrote about it seven years ago, in "Smart Guns–-Dumb Lawsuits":
But for the gun controllers, that's not all bad-- because based on results, each tragedy provides a new opportunity to exploit, a new press conference to hold, a new law to enact, or a new lawsuit to file. They'll propose further restrictions under the bald-faced pretense that it's "a good first step." They won't tell you that there are already over 20,000 gun laws on the books at the federal, state and municipal level that are consistently ignored by all but the law-abiding.

"A good first step...…" the clueless segment of our victim pool populace will drone back at the proposal of law number 20,001.
A good first step to ensuring this lie will be a non-starter is to be aware that it's being employed--and to expose it as a coordinated talking point whenever it is used.

Defer to the Brainwashed, Poll Concludes

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will have a tough time convincing Canadians it's time to completely scrap the country's expensive gun registry program, a new opinion poll suggests...

The poll of 1,001 Canadians was conducted May 9 to May 11, with a 3.1 percentage point margin of error, 19 times out of 20...

The support is strongest in Ontario and Quebec where 71 per cent and 76 per cent of respondents respectively said they were in favour of maintaining a gun control system.
What a surpruse. Urban constituents, that is, liberals, want more gun control. And we all know how individual rights ought to be defined by the majority--particularly a majority addicted to government influence and control in all aspects of their lives.

In a related poll, a majority of sheep prefer grass...

We're the Only Ones...Hey, Has Anybody Seen My...

A gun that was apparently stolen from a New Haven police detective was used in a December shooting, according to records obtained by the New Haven Register.
So much for useful idiot Tom Ferrick Jr's. contention that keeping guns away from you and me--and giving special advantage to the police at the expense of the people--will cut "gun violence."

On Cutting "Gun Violence"

Politicians against gun control are to blame for violence committed by reptiles? I guess that's easier to sell than the truth: that mad dogs are the inevitable result of the socialist incubator useful idiot Tom Ferrick Jr. and his ilk demand.

This would be easy to fisk if it wasn't so damned difficult to stomach this police state apologist's loathsome opinions. How does someone become this bent?

The liar calls one-gun-a-month schemes "a start"--as if "gun control" in Philadelphia is a virgin subject that's never been tried before.

There can be no peace between us. He and his kind won't allow it.

Molon labe, Tom, you despicable wretch.

You can't take back your words. If history recalls you at all, it will be as an obscure collaborator and enemy of freedom.
