Cabela's Reviewing Zumbo TV Sponsorship

Additionally, Cabela's has not yet dropped their sponsorship of the Jim Zumbo Outdoors television show, Cabela's Frank Ross is being quoted as having said their legal department is "currently reviewing contractual obligations and commitments regarding our sponsorship of the Jim Zumbo Outdoors television show.
Jim Shepherd gives us a pretty comprehensive recap of the whole sorry Zumbo affair.

UPDATE: Blog O'Stuff has more.

Any voices calling for reason and tolerance found themselves shouted down.

I was with him until that.

It's a recap, but it's got the same taint of "He's a moderate, because he makes everybody mad" concept/"he's the victim" mentality the press is so addicted to.

David:

I notice the Chattanoogan posted a disclaimer since you first linked to it.

I wonder if we've found the "other writers" who "agree with Zumbo".

Personally, I think the big story is that this shows that the Sport Shooters throw a LOT more weight than the "Conventional Wisdom" would indicate we should.. which would mean... wait for it... Wait, carry the two... Errr... divide by 5... Add the vector, put in the constant for mass... wait, almost got it....

Unix-Jedi has spoken for me as well. He does a great job of fisking (here I am using a word I don't fully understand because I know it is appropriate by the contexts in which I have read it) Mr. Shephard's article.

I suspect Mr. Shephard is really sore-legged at this time. One cannot walk both sides of the street simultaneously, unless it is a very small street. But, he tried.

For every mention he made of the indignation over Zumbo's column he followed immediately with a neutralizer meant to show that indignation was inappropriate and wrong headed.

Unix, does a great job of showing this analysis for what it is.

Jim Shepherd has replied to me, and said that he disagrees with Zumbo, but know many who won't speak on it.

I still have some issues with the article, but Mr. Shepherd says tomorrow will be his opinion piece, and "If you are not with us - ALL OF US - you are against us - ALL of US."
