New WarOnGuns Poll: How Will YOU Vote?

See the left margin for the new poll. What do we do, people, keep accepting the "lesser of two evils" because it's "pragmatic"?

Results of last week's poll:

If armed resistance to governmental overreach became necessary, would you:

I will vote my conscience in the primary, but I live in CO, which has become a battleground state, and will not take a chance of the dems taking our electoral votes.

If Paul makes it he gets my vote.

If Kent makes it he gets my vote.

If neither of those do, 3rd party based on candidate.

If McCain hadn't been included I might have been able to vote for the lessser of two evils, but not McCain.

The sad state of afairs is that a third party will never get elected.

> Knowing that a Republican loss guarantees an anti-gun Democrat will become president, I will:

1.) advise the Republicans to pull their socks up and mount a convincing argument in their favor (hint: it's called "standing rock-ribbed in your principles"). Starting yesterday would be good.

If the Republicans lose, then that means they didn't convince a sufficient number of voters to vote for them. Too bad. That's the way it works. My vote is not owed to the Republicans, as if by divine right; they bear the burden of convincing me, and "Vote for me because, erm, uh, I, um-um, I'm slightly less bad than the other guy ... yeah, yeah, that's it, that's the ticket" is a non-starter. Besides, since Democrats and Republicans are merely the left and right wings on the same dialectical bird of prey, and have an oligopoly of the political system anyway, what are the Republicans so worried about? They need only wait, and the system will replace them when it's their turn in the barrel; I mean, on the evidence, it's not as if we could rely on them to actually cut government or anything.

2.) cast a ballot in self-defense.

My vote in self-defense does not "elect a Democrat" -- all those other people who voted for the Democrat do. Third parties do not "split the vote", as if "the vote" was ever "whole": a homogeneous block of stuff like cheese. Being "pragmatic" and voting for "the lesser of two evils" is how we got into this mess in the first place!

I can't quote this often enough: "An election is not a horse race; you don't get a prize for guessing right."
