And Then There's Option B

Surrounding states must strengthen their gun laws to match New Jersey's if violent crime in the Garden State is going to be reduced, a group of county prosecutors said Thursday.
Yeah, either that or you guys can go to hell.

Great "objective reporting" there, "Staff Writer" Carolyn Salazar. You quote the prosecutors, skim convenient data from a BATFU slide show (but omit the inconvenient factoid that "average time-to-crime" in New Jersey is 11.52 years), work in a sound bite from a local citizen disarmament zealot, and even point to Mayor Bloomberg's illegal strong arm tactics as the way to achieve an agenda. Your readers would never know there are competing arguments, so you've served the cause well.

You ought to make "Senior Authorized Journalist" in no time.

Mixed Messages

Former Run-DMC star Darryl McDaniels has created an award show to challenge negative perceptions of hip-hop...

McDaniels said the inclusion of "gangster rapper" Snoop Dogg on the bill did not detract from the awards' message....

"It's OK to make a record about a gun, but if you make a record about a gun, you gotta make a record about not using a gun," he said.

Good grief.

Wayne Fincher Update: Sept. 14

Paul W. Davis has updated the "Raid page" with Wayne Fincher's IFP Status and Hearing Transcript.

We talked about this yesterday, including a faster way to send in donations. Per Mr. Davis:
I will send the links and account deposit information for the defense fund as soon as I have everything ready... I am going on a local radio talk show tomorrow morning (7:00 AM) to discuss Wayne's case.

We're the Only Ones Exhibiting Enough

A military-style machine gun accidentally discharged at a gun club exhibition, killing an off-duty police officer who was working with the weapon, state police said Thursday.
Tragic, but again we see the "gun...discharged...killing." Not a word about an inanimate object being negligently operated...

We're the Only Ones Self-Inflicting Enough

A Northside Independent School District police officer shot himself and then lied to San Antonio police about how he suffered the gunshot wounds, police officials said.
And that's why "we believe in absolutely gun-free, zero-tolerance, totally safe schools. That means no guns in America's schools, period ... with the rare exception of law enforcement officers or trained security personnel."

Right, Wayne?

That'll Stop "Knife Crimes," Eh?

Ontario Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty said Wednesday that he does not want to see the provinces' schools resort to installing metal detectors and having uniformed security officers patrol the halls in the wake of Tuesday's fatal stabbing at a Toronto high school...

Instead, he said, Ontario needs to distinguish itself from the United States by imposing an outright ban on hand guns.

Cause...effect...cause...effect...

Nah. But that's OK, none of the "authorized journalists" caught it. One can only wonder how many of McGuinty's constituents did.

And then we have the "opposition," blaming the problem on government not having enough money to redistribute.

I wonder at what point people will realize they're being played for suckers by sleight-of-mind charlatans and parasites...

"WAVE 3's Elizabeth Donatelli Investigates."

There's been talk and action about dry districts where alcohol isn't allowed, but now there is a movement for gun-dry districts. Community activists are working to get legislative support that would put restrictions on guns and selling them in high-crime areas of metro Louisville.

J.T. McAdams responds by email to an "authorized journalist" shilling for gun control under the guise of objective reporting:

This is what passes for investigative journalism these days? How hard could it have been to do just a little bit of research before you parrot such trash?

For instance:

You state "Since August 31st of this year, there have been 48 homicides in Jefferson County. In 33 of those cases, the murder weapon was a gun."

1. How many of those homicides were gang related?
2. How many of those guns were legally purchased?
3. How many of those guns were purchased in the proposed "gun dry"districts?
4. What evidence exists that shows restrictions on gun sales lowers crime?
5. MORE IMPORTANTLY, what evidence exists that shows more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens actually REDUCES crime? (Don't look now, but it's overwhelming and really easy to find if you want to.)
6. How many homicides(or any other crimes) have been prevented by law abiding citizens who were carrying firearms? (Please see #5 above)

You reference the D.C. ban that was overturned. Do you even have a clue as to what the crime rate in D.C. has been since the "de facto" ban went into effect? This information might help you in answering questions #4 & #5 above.

You state "Community groups in Chicago are pushing similar legislation." Chicago has one of the highest violent crime rates in the country and yet firearms have been outlawed for the law abiding in that city for years and years. This could also help with 4 & 5 above.

Another quote from you - "Local activists are also considering ways to restrict gun sales in certain high-crime areas such as 12th and Broadway, 18th and Broadway, and areas of Shelbyville instead of an all-out ban."

Who does Louis Coleman think he is? A lawmaker? Who do you think he is? Let me help you. He is Louisville's Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton wanna be. He likes to shake people down for a living if they don't go along with his little schemes. He's a man desperate for relevance. And so called investigations like yours do nothing but give him credence.

By the way, have you ever heard of "preemption" when it comes to laws pertaining to firearms? No? Why doesn't that surprise me? But I'm real tired of doing your work for you so go look it up.

"WAVE 3's Elizabeth Donatelli investigates." Investigates? You didn't investigate anything. You simply gave airtime and press to shameful, lying,race-baiting thugs disguised as "community activists".

Thank you for contributing to the problem.
