I Took the Road Less Traveled By...

If C-plus rated Sen. McCain hasn't changed, why is the NRA highlighting him in Louisville?

Does the NRA still believe McCain is a "premier flag carrier for the enemies of the Second Amendment"?
Imagine that.

Me being at the same place on the same road at the same time as Paul Helmke.

Of course, we're traveling in different directions...

The NRA backs the traitor McCain because he's "ELECTABLE," while they consider constitutionalists "non-viable." Government experience, name recognition, plus most people are not aware of how he has undermined the foundations of liberty and continues to do so.
If the NRA would back a true freedom candidate, Ron Paul or someone just like him -- it's not the man but his views -- they could bring 4.5 million members' votes, plus the votes of family members and friends. Dr. Paul or another follower of the Founders would BECOME "electable." That seems to frighten them for some reason.

Defender,
If they did that then they would have to go back to just educating people. No more big fundraisers, no more hobnobbing with the rich, famous and powerful, heck they wouldn't be able to scare their members into sending them lots of money anymore.

So, just how is it in the best interests of the NRAs leadership and bureaucracy to support a follower of the Founders, or to even win the battle?

I have been preaching this a long time, Gregg. Somebody else is finally starting to figure it out.

It is frustrating to know before everybody else, because they won't believe you. Hell, they won't even examine the issue in their desire to "belong".

I see more and more people saying aloud what you just did. At some point, even the "pragmatists" must surrender to the truth. Let us hope that day is not far off.
