The Road to Damascus

Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Philip Morris is reporting that State Rep. Michael DeBose, a Cleveland Democrat who has a solid history of anti-gun votes in the Ohio legislature, has changed his mind in the wake of a violent robbery attempt near his home.
Yeah, you needed it to happen to you to make it real. Right.

I'll believe in a change of heart when I see him come out in favor of protecting militia suitable rifles. Until then, I suspect this is CYA excuse-making to mask the obvious hypocrisy of a gungrabber wanting to carry a gun.

What damage has been done in the atmosphere this creature helped create? And how does he propose to atone and make restitution?

I just don't buy that him wanting to protect his sorry hind quarters is reason for me to think I've got a brand new pal.

Still, I think we ought to use every opportunity to rub this in the antis' faces.

David said,

In Chicago, Alderman can own and carry a handgun. I believe it was Dorthy Tillman, after losing her status, said, "I need this gun because I live in a dangerous neighborhood."

I don't remember her advocating for the citizens to have the same protections.

This story is one year old. Perhaps there is more to discuss regarding this "new pal".

I agree with David, I want to see more. Remember, although Saul saw the light on The Road to Damascus, he was not readily accepted by those he previously persecuted.

He should have to wait an equal number of years to the amount of time he worked to deny guns to everyone else. Maybe he'll make it, maybe he won't. When politicians of ANY stripe think their lives matter more, we're well on the way to classic historical mistakes.

Not much man, and certainly not a moral man, nor a man I would treat with courtesy, nor would I have a drink with him. And I have had drinks with some real low lifes.

He is an empty shell who places value on the vacuum he is and none on the very real people he worked so hard to help the vermin destroy, until he was threatened. He may be an ordained minister, but he is in no way a moral man. Just your common everyday garden variety chickenshit.

Nah. Give it a few. See if he really did have a change of heart. If it shows, reward him with your support and forgive the stupidity of youth. We want our politicians getting the hint that turning the leaf is a politically intelligent move.

Not me tomare, I am human enough to want my fellow men and women to be able to live their lives peaceably, without restrictions that place them at the mercy of monsters. I was that way well before I had to deal with any monsters because it is the right and proper attitude.

I don't care if the sonofabitch did turn over a new leaf. There is something fundamental lacking in his character that he could endanger so many because had no real comprehension of the problem or its solution until he had to run screaming. I wish he hadn't run.

A man that empty of empathy and that unaware of the needs and rights of others until he has to run screaming, will be no different on the other issues he may be wrong about, until he has to run screaming. Fuck him, I would rather have whole man represent his district than this partial human.

Morris had a column in last week's PD saying he wished Chevonne Ecclestone had had a gun.

Of course, Sunday's paper featured a letter to the editor in which a local resident admitted a bout of PSH because Morris simply pointed out what was already legal.

So, then u've never been wrong about anything, eh, Straight? Didn't ever think that society should do more about the poor, didn't think that maybe if it reduced suffering, a dictator telling people what to do might not be the worst thing in the world?

I know as a young man I thought people were to stupid to deserve freewill. Since I have learned, but by what you say, I must still be a monster ...
