The Government They Deserve

Chicago police received about 6,000 weapons Saturday during the city's gun turn-in program...

So many people came out that organizers ran out of the $100 prepaid debit cards for turning in guns...

"For you young people, the new word for you is: 'Start snitching,' " she said.

I won't be able to muster any sympathy should any of these ever come to regret their decision.

Notice none, zip, zero from the firearms manufactures in that state have said nothing about any of this.
I am on a boycott with any company that has their business in that state.
I know that some of the money I spend with them would find its way through taxes to the very people that are bent on destroying the Second Amendment.
I see these companies as sleeping with the enemy by giving all the thousands of dollars to these Marxist creeps in taxes. I have two words for firearms companies in IL, "bite me".

It would be interesting to find out how many people who have turned in their guns to their enemy (the state) have later become victims of violence.

If I lived near one of these things, I'd have a bucket full of Lorcins and Jennings to turn in.

Anyone who'd give me a C-note in exchange for a cheap-@ss pistol would be voted "Ammunition Supplier of the Month" by me. Because that's what I'd do with the $$. What total idiots.

You're not alone, Peter. I watched the video to ID some of the illegalguns, and I spotted the following in only seconds of video:

* Two .25 ACP pocket guns (the cheapest of the cheap)

* A Marksman BB pistol painted green (?)

* A tube-fed Marlin .22 with a stock pockmarked by rough handling and a K-Mart blue-light Tasco scope

There's even a cameo from ol' Snuffy!

I love how the Marksman BB pistol is featured prominently as the image capture opening the story, the titled image behind the news anchor on the video matte, and twice in the story. That sums up the whole affair: phony.

My favorite quote:

"That's not something you shoot ducks with," he said."

Actually, considering that shotgun propellants are designed to deflagrate relatively quickly (due to the large bore), only about four inches of barrel are needed for a good burn. I'm sure it would be a passable bird gun with the right choke, however unpleasant to shoot.

But of course it's not for flying ducks! The last I checked, there are no waterfowl hunting zones in the middle of Chicago. It is for sitting ducks, who were forcibly disarmed by the overbearing government, and therefore cannot defend themselves from a criminal wielding a shot, er, pistol.

Also: They're not even doing it right. You're supposed to do the buybacks in September, then claim that it resulted in the drop in crime, (that always happens as the summer winds down.)

it would also be interesting to see how many people who aren't even city residents drove in from elsewhere with junk they couldn't sell anywhere else.

i think manuf's probably expect this won't have any effect on them. after all, these are supposedly black market firearms. still, i'm going to stick to buying from new englanders, like sig.

One day, even a Jennings .22 may be the new Liberator pistol. A freedom-minded individual may be able to "turn in" one round of .22 Short in exchange for an H&K MP5 or an M-16. I wouldn't turn in ANYTHING that goes bang.

Unfortunately, we get the government they deserve, too. But breaking up is hard to do....
