The Operative Word Being "Me"

...I support the re-imposition of the ban on the sale of assault weapons that expired in September 2004 because I believe these guns are used primarily for criminal rather than sporting intent.
And your guns are safe with me.

My fantasy is that during a debate, Palin asks Obama just what exactly is an "assault weapon", other than an arbitrary number of ergonomic additions to 100 year old technology. Time to stop accepting phony premises then arguing about them, as if they exist.

Lightworker and mindreader.
He must not read much else. Semi-auto rifles are used in what, around ONE PERCENT of crimes involving guns? The framers of the Constitution are clear that we have the right to every terrible implement of the soldier, even if 80% of their owners misuse them. Or should we just jail everyone who's arrested, because we BELIEVE they're guilty of SOMETHING?
That's what Obama is really saying. You just haven't been caught yet.

Since I carry concealed without renewing the permit I once applied for, submitted to a background check and fingerprinting, waited six weeks and paid a nonrefundable fee to get, I am NOT a "law-abiding gun owner" by Obama's OR MCCAIN'S standards. I had a ticket for overtime parking in a 30 minute zone, once, about 30 years ago. That's my entire police record, y'all.
I won't be an actual criminal until where I now stand is moved into that realm. The Big Two are headed that way.

Don't go by what anyone SAYS at election time, look at their voting record. Obama, consistently against gun rights. McCain, "only" 75% of the time.

What I believe: Right now, we are offended if our doctor or a neighbor who listens to the Bradyites asks whether we have a gun in the house. Imagine the day the IRS asks, so they know whether to GRANT you your refund; or the Social Security Administration, so they know whether to release your retirement check. Or the department of motor vehicles, so they know whether to renew your driver's license and de facto national ID card...
Politicians are big into "balancing individual rights with the need for public safety."
There's no leverage they won't use to achieve THEIR idea of public safety.
In Germany in the '40s, gun owners who ignored the surrender edicts were offered their children back in exchange for their firearms. Do you think, after the Yearning For Zion LDS settlement raid and holding of all minors on the grounds of one anonymous phone call describing abuse, that it can't happen here?

you know... it just occured to me that it's possible that barack obama, like a lot of the people he appeals to, has really, truly absolutely no experience with the firearms he thinks should be banned.

it's like a cargo cult building an airstrip out of bamboo -- they don't understand the function, the meaning underlying the tools.

i mean why not just offer to take him shooting, and explain what it is he's firing? make sure you remind him that it's not about the cameras.

what's the worst possible outcome of this scenario? wouldn't the best be: "gee, actually, these are really just scary-looking. maybe the minds i need to change are my own constituent."

i mean let's face it. they need to be told by their fearless leader(s) what to think.

Defender: got a reference for that nazi/gun owners bit? I'm not challenging it, I'd just like to read the source material for myself.
