A Pre-Announcement

My name is L. Neil Smith. I'm about to make an important announcement for Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. If you would send me any e-mail address(es) of folks you think might be interested, it would be easier, and I would appreciate it. You'll find material to establish my bona fides on Wikipedia.com, or at The Libertarian Enterprise or "The Webley Page."

If you're intrigued, you can reach him at lneilATnetzeroDOTnet .

UPDATE: I'm adding this based on some concerns raised in "Comments." For what it's worth, my personal policy is never to forward anyone's email address to anyone else without consent.

I've known L. Neil for many years, but have been getting a bounce at that address the last several months.

Anyone else getting bounced?

Just realized that the old address I had ended in .com - and this one is a .org

I hate when people change addresses and don't tell anyone! :)

Wish there was a way to edit these posts! [grin]

David, you once asked me to contact you, but I gave up after three days of trying. I have tried L. Neils' address and I don't get anything. It's the same style as when I no-soaped trying to contact you. Couldn't you post the address as it is instead of spelling it out? This is getting very frustrating. Either I don't get it, this g*damned computer is schiese, or there's some kind of interference being run. You've also been posting stories that link.......right back to you, and I can't figure it out.

Sean, replace AT with @ and Dot with .

I do that because otherwise the edress is subject to being picked up by robots and subjecting the poor guy to all kinds of spam, phishing scams, etc. I guess I haven't been consistent with, like with Mike Vanderboegh's, because he just puts his edress out there for the world, so I figure he's handling everything OK.

As for this post linking back to itself, that's what happens when there is no other story to link to. If there was another story, it would go to there.

David, I did the thing with the . and the @. Nothing. No link? I have to go talk to Mr. Obvious now.

Uh-oh!

Neil did provide you with his "bonafides" so you could establish his credibility for yourself, Mark. That said, I'll pass your comment on to him, see if he wants to weigh in.

L. Neil is beyond credible, my anonymous friend. head on down to your library and borrow a copy of "the probability broach."

....Thank you for the kind words. I'm compiling this list so that I can pass on word of a nifty project that Aaron Zelman is working on. I would never sell anybody's address to anybody else for any reason.

....My one and only concern, now and for the past 40-odd years, is the advancement of individual liberty, and if something else comes up that needs shouting at the world, I'll probably do it. My old anarcho space opera _Tom Paine Maru_ is about to be reprinted, for example.

....There is no automation involved in any of this, so if at any time you want out, all you have to do is write to me at lneil@netzero.com and your will shall be done.

....Hope that helps.

"The truth of a proposition has nothing to do with its credibility. And vice versa." -- Heinlein

What does "credibility", or lack thereof, have to do with the question of whether or not what he's planning to send out is spam?

What does that even mean?

Was I anonymous?

Thanks, I've read it. Again, what's that got to do with the price of tea in China?

Be that as it may: For the third time, so what?

> My one and only concern, now and for the past 40-odd years, is the advancement of individual liberty, and if something else comes up that needs shouting at the world, I'll probably do it.

And are you quite sure you're not committing aggression (i.e., theft by conversion, and trespass to chattels) by doing so?

Had you considered adding some?

{sigh}

Perhaps I should have just refrained from comment and let you find out for yourself what happens to people who send unsolicited bulk e-mail; for one thing, they acquire reputations as spammers right smart. But, "that's freedom, isn't it?".

Here's a neat solution Mark--don't send him your edress.

Oh yes, very neat. How does that solve the problem of someone else possibly sending him my e-mail address?

David, in case it's not clear, I'm trying to keep Neil from shooting himself in the foot on this. But, sad to relate, perhaps the figurative "two-by-four right between the eyes" is the only way some people will learn.{shrug}

OK, now the concern is clear. I added an update.

David,

Good to know. For the record, when I wrote "someone else", I did not mean to imply "you"; and if you thought I did, then I apologize.
