An Austin police officer who was fired in 2006 — but later reinstated — for beating up a mentally ill man at an East Austin bus stop has sued the city and former Acting Police Chief Cathy Ellison, claiming that the initial discipline was unfairly harsh because he is white.Yeah, it obviously had nothing to do with that "Only Ones"-style wake-up call you clubbed into a guy who committed the heinous crime of falling asleep on a bus bench.
