We're the Only Ones Special Ops Enough

A Marine Reserve intelligence officer recently returned from Iraq is helping the department create a new unit that will replace the scandal-plagued Special Operations Section.
"Scandal-plagued" police in Chi-Town. How surprising. So naturally, the answer is to make them even more powerful, more able to crush your enemies, drive them before you and hear the lamentation of their women.

But don't worry about militarization of the police* or the reverse. If you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about. Besides, I was told we don't have to worry about the Marines.

One question though: Would we refer to "elite cops" as Only Ones2?

Boy, that didn't take long--I see the new SOS formation effort has already started, complete with qualifications and application instructions. Nice recruiting poster.

And remember: "They" hate us because we're free.

If the police want to behave like 21st Century military occupation troops, they should expect to be treated that way. I was thinking this morning how terrorists in their guerrilla wars strike and then disappear back into the crowd. A soldier learns to watch and suspect everyone.
That sounds quite the opposite of what we always wanted here in America.
My wife's first husband was a cop. He liked to run speed traps in his own neighborhood and ticket his neighbors, his kids' friends' parents, even his own friends. After a while the only friends he had were other cops. That's when he got WORSE. The "us against them" mentality was bad before militarization began.

I resent you using a Conan quote.

Conan would probably string up Daley by his eyeballs and turn a pack of rabid ferrets loose in his pants simply for his own amusement.

"Scandal plagued", well YEAH, Duh! How could a criminal infested unit be anything else?

Take out the "O" in SOS and you have what they have been and will become again.
