What if You Held a "Buyback" and Nobody Came...?

The Rev. Reginald Holmes, a minister at the church, said about 40 people with a total of 120 guns showed up but were turned off to the idea of just donating their guns. [More]
But wait a second...Alvertis Simmons led us to believe the Tre Crips were primarily interested in ending the violence...I don't see from this story where any of them followed through...

I have a great idea, lets have gun owners do buy backs offering a little more money than what the Constitution haters are offering. We could start training with these firearms to teach folks how to shoot. The classes are for free and if anyone wants to donate for the ammo used fine.
Gun owners could form not for profit groups and do all sorts of things to get money. Maybe the GOA could be the advisor on how to form such groups and how to the the SOS to issue the not for profit. Fact an Inc. can own an FFL.

I'll send along a reply to the Denver Post, as soon as I stop laughing at this picture.

You're right, David. Encouraging casual handling by people who know nothing about firearms couldn't possibly increase the level of safety.

Holmes also called the day ironic, citing several recent shootings, including one that occurred earlier in the morning at Vinyl nightclub about 4 miles away.

"We just can't keep going to sleep at night and pretend it didn't happen," he said. "God's sending us a message, and that is to do something about gun violence."

There certainly is some irony at work here, but the way this panned out, I see only two options. One is that God sent you a message on how to reduce gun violence, but then messed with you by having the method fail miserably. Better check your back for divinely placed "Kick me" signs, Rev, because it's pretty obvious God hates you.

The other is that God exists to the same extent that guns make non-bad people do bad things. Maybe you need to understand that both the problem and the solution lie in human beings, and not in your Invisible Sky-Daddy and inanimate pieces of metal, polymer, wood and rubber. Take away guns while people still want to kill each other, and they will continue to kill each other, only by other means. Convince people not to kill each other, and they won't, no matter how many guns they own, or how many deities are supposedly watching.
