It Beggars Belief

It doesn't make any sense to me. Great successes have been won in defending the Second Amendment recently but the fight isn't over. Obama and the Democrats might be in power soon- and Republicans Kirk and his Republican co-sponsors Castle, Ferguson and Shays have put forward anti-gun legislation. It beggars belief.

Not once you come to accept the fact that you're being bare-ass naked in the town square conned.

Our friend from across the pond, Cryptic Subterranean, gives us his perspective from the UK on scuttling the miserable Mark Kirk. This guy supports American Constitutionalism more than most gun owners I know--by a long shot. That such as he still exists over there is a cause for hope.

And by the way--I put yesterday's post up in a rush. I'll get to the other 3 GOP stooges, Castle, Ferguson and Shays next week.

Smokey Mountain Traders Update

I went in and spoke with the owner today...

I asked about what I read in the news and he informed me that it was the regular ATF visit and they found a form that didn't have Male/Female box checked and they told him "We can shut you down for this". From what I could tell, he was tired of the ATF's strong arm tactics and abuses. He said he decided to quit selling firearms, so he gave them the license.
We talked about this here.

Harass dealers out of existence with bureaucratic nitpicking. Do it to everybody. I guess this is what "Maximum Mike" meant by "apply[ing] the rules more uniformly."

This Dud's for You?

Note on InBev's bid to take over Anheuser-Busch...

You knew that Ambev (InBev group, on Brazil) was a major donor campaign to prevent the Brazilian citizen possessing arms and ammunition?
We shall see what develops, and if it results in any policy changes.

I'm a Beck's Dark man, myself, although there is something more than a little creepy about advertising that you comply with the Reinheitsgebot, a German Purity Law, albeit one from 1516. That, of course, is before they knew about microscopic organisms, so I can only assume it referred to how many rats could be pickled in the barrel and still get a pass...

Behind Closed Puertas

Republican presidential John McCain assured Hispanic leaders he would push through Congress legislation to overhaul federal immigration laws if elected...

...But supporters who were in the room denied that McCain held the closed-door session out of fear of offending conservatives, many of whom want him to take a harder line on immigration.

Nothing to see here.

I'm sure The Award-Winning John McCain had a perfectly good reason for meeting in secret...

The Chocolate Paradox

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him.
Meanwhile, Thulsa supporter Spike Lee is...uh...highlighting the fact that he is black.

What's Good for the Gus...

Few Americans would invite an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service, but that's exactly what Minnesota pastor Gus Booth wanted when he stood behind his pulpit and told his congregation God wanted them to vote Republican.
Who the hell does this guy think he is?

Snuffy Pfleger?

GOP Women Show Cracks

Uhh...it's not my title, honest.

But it is illustrative of the Big Tent Bolsheviks who have replaced Constitutionalists in the center ring, and relegated advocacy of principles to the midway barkers and sideshow freaks.

Jillian Manus-Salzman, Susan Eisenhower, Harriet Stinson...perhaps one of you could show us where "funding birth control and support of sex education" are within the purview of the executive...?

And this is enough to get you rich and privileged old Establishment broads to jump ship for The Lightworker?

But it's all rigged anyway. Now that he's no longer needed to clear the field, "Maverick" John McCain, the darling of the media, will henceforth be portrayed as the "evil conservative" they'd like us to believe he is.

And it's working.

We're the Only Ones Negatively Impacting Others Enough

A Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy was charged Thursday with two misdemeanor manslaughter charges after he ran down three competitive bicyclists in his patrol car in Cupertino, killing two and injuring the third...

Council crossed the center line on Stevens Canyon Road in Cupertino and struck the three cyclists at 10:25 a.m. on a Sunday, authorities said. Witnesses at the scene said there were no skid marks and that the officer said he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

And it's the job's fault. Long hours.

We've all worked long hours. I'm just wondering if the same charges would have applied to any of us under similar circumstances, not being "Only Ones" and all.

We all know what it's like to go the extra mile for a paycheck. But we all have a responsibility to make sure our pursuit of that paycheck doesn't put others at risk.

we're d 1ly 1s txtN nuf*

The ruling stemmed from a lawsuit by Ontario Police Sgt. Jeff Quon and three others against the city's service provider and the city and Police Department for violating the 4th Amendment prohibition against unreasonable search and seizure.

...Quon and another officer exceeded a department limit of 25,000 characters per month for texting. The police chief ordered a subordinate...to determine whether the pagers were being used purely for work purposes.

...The city determined that many of Quon's messages were personal, and several were sexually explicit.
so d 1ly 1s now rSpect d 4th?
