The Proper Response to "Gun Violence"

The Ready Line shows us how it's done.

Condolences, Mr. Greer, on the loss of your friend.

A Self-Admitted Gun Fanatic

By day, Case is a sergeant with the Oklahoma City Police Department. By night, he is a self-admitted gun fanatic.

"He literally eats, sleeps, and breathes guns,” said Pam Case, Mike's wife. "He loves studying them, assembling them, fixing them ...
That's great, Mike--and it's great to see you pass the heritage along to your boys.

But if you caught me in violation of a "gun law"--even if I wasn't threatening anybody--would you try to destroy my life?

No Return

Mr Nally said he was informed at the time of the trial that he would not be allowed to have a firearm again under any circumstances, but had since been told he was now entitled to one because of his acquittal.
Yes, but you see, Nally, you're a bit of an embarrassment to us. You're living proof that self defense works and that our position is morally indefensible.

Quite frankly, we'd rather Frog Ward had killed you--preferably with a gun.

On Their Own Free Will

Sgt. Pat Harris says: "This is just an opportunity for citizens to dispose of these items on their own free will."

As opposed to what, Sarge?

Still, this is helpful--it gives us a quick and authoritiative reference to cite:

According to Virginia Beach Police, gun buybacks create crime.

That's a darn-near perfect sound bite.

The Spoiler

A fiery former GOP congressman who gained national prominence for doggedly pursuing impeachment of President Clinton has some Republicans worried he'll play spoiler in a tight presidential contest.

Well, unless he and the LP man up and answer some questions, they'll get no help from me.

I can only interpret their lack of response to my inquiries as intentional. On matters of fundamental rights, that is unworthy of any candidate or organization that bills itself as "libertarian."

What Happens When You Kiss Up to the Left

They still hold you in contempt.

Brilliant strategy, Mark Kirk and Team America. Abandon principles and try appealing to people who hate you.

Please--do keep it up. If you scuttle yourselves, it makes our task almost effortless.

Every Constructive Idea

When that decision involves a gun, it can be a deadly lesson, which is why every community should engage every constructive idea on how to keep children and weapons from coming together.
That's why we recommend prohibition and rendering what we still allow you to have (for now) useless.

What?

Put guns in kids' hands? Teach them to become responsible shooters?

No, we meant every constructive idea except that.

Oh, and as far as "easy access" goes...

Only in New Jersey

Trying to reduce gun crime by rationing firearms to law abiding citizens is a little like trying to reduce stabbings by rationing steak knives to restaurant goers, which is why the Court found the ordinance to be irrational. The criminal misuse of any lawful product is not a function of the number of units sold to honest citizens; it's a function of how effectively society deals with those who misuse them.

Yeah, but you're assuming this issue will be decided based on rationality and morality.

I don't mean to sound cynical--this guy makes some great points. But like he says, "Only in New Jersey."

And when this has no effect whatsoever, watch Bryan Miller scream for more.

May or May Not

The Supreme Court may give its ruling in the D.C. gun ban case Monday.

Then again it may not.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Nope.

Look for Wednesday or Thursday.

We're the Only Ones Prenatal Caregiving Enough

A jury in western Ohio has found a woman who was shocked in the neck with a stun gun when she was seven-months pregnant not guilty of resisting arrest and obstruction of official business.
And stunning ex-"Only One" Michael Wilmer is not in the slammer because...?

We're Surrounded

Sometime during the course of your day, someone with a loaded weapon probably is near you. And those are just the legal weapons.
I wouldn't make the automatic assumption that all the "illegal" ones, whatever that means, are necessarily bad.

This Day in History: June 23

As I am within a few minutes of leaving this city, I would not think of departing from it with out dropping you a line, especially as I do not know whether it may be in my power to write again till I get to the camp at Boston.
