C-SPAN Presents Nordyke

Today

This weekend, C-SPAN presents oral arguments in the case of Nordyke vs. King. The Court decides if Alameda County, California's ban on gun shows at the annual county fair is unconstitutional. Gun show promoters Russell & Sallie Nordyke argue that the ban violates their First Amendment right of free speech and their Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Not to mention the violation of our right to peaceably assemble.

After watching the first 30 min of the proceedings, it doesn't look good. The court room has pagan symbols in the background, the robed dictators are hostile, and Kilmer(the good guy) doesn't seem well prepared, and has a long pony tail. I had long hair in the 60's but that was college. This is a court room and even though CA, it hurts his case. What a doofus. I wish him well but he should read "Dress for Success", an old book that tells truth about reactions, no matter the background of the observer.

I agree, anon.

By the way, remind me to send a "Thank You" card to Scalia.

Both Anons,

Kilmer was excruciatingly well-prepared. He's been handling this case pro-bono for ten years.

And, 9th Circuit is hosted in San Francisco; a pony-tail is actually rather conservative. He did, however, change out of the suit rather quickly after.
