The US Drug Enforcement Administration has rejected the bid of a UMass Amherst researcher who wants to create the second laboratory in the nation authorized to grow marijuana for medical research. [More]Because God forbid medical research be something best left to medical researchers.

if i understand it right, there used to be a marijuana research program on that campus. in fact, i lived in the area for a time, and someone has pointed out the greenhouses where it's supposedly grown. they're gated off, but they're right on the main road. a few thousand students walk by them, every day.
funny thing, though, nobody's ever tried breaking into them -- it's cheaper just to buy it.
The Puritans are still around, and still hanging witches while practicing the dark arts in their own mansions. Gee, how many politicians' children were arrested for marijuana last year?
If I were a user, I could have some within an hour of making a phone call. A lot. I don't know any felons, I just have neighbors. Average working people, never been arrested. Regular Americans. The government is insane. Maybe people who don't care about other freedom issues will start kicking ass because a relative is denied medical marijuana and goes blind from intraocular pressure, dies early of cancer as a result of nausea from chemo, and other unnecessary suffering marijuana an alleviate.

A former girlfriend of mine, upon moving 2000 miles from anyone she knew, had bought some pot within 30 minutes of arriving. And the "Drug(ged) Warriors" think their war is successful? LOL

Hmmm... one can't help but wonder:
If marijuana really was as bad as our masters say it is...then why are they so afraid of allowing legitimate research to take place?
I mean, surely such research would validate the policies that have brought us, among other things, the largest prison state on the planet and 'drug war' exceptions to nearly every one of the first 10 Constitutional Amendments... right? Right?
