Imagining Gun Control in America

Several readers have sent me this law review article. [More]

Dr. Lott says simply:
Well Respected Law Professor Predicts that the Heller Decision will be Overturned
Read the entire paper for yourself.

I found good information in re the "gun show loophole" to use in today's Gun Rights Examiner column.

Here's the bottom line for me: In order to do what would need to be done to enact total gun control, mass disobedience and defiance would be the guaranteed reaction. There's no getting around that, and in this sense, this article is extremely useful, if for no other reason than to point out "You don't want to go there."

As for imagining such gun control, I already have. That's why I'll fight to keep it from happening until my dying breath.

Don't have to imagine. There was a murder on a gun-free campus last night, one Virginia Tech student killed another -- with a knife. Maybe a relationship thing, both Asian graduate students. Happened in a campus cafe'. An assault was reported to campus police and they got there in four minutes. About three minutes and 57 seconds too late. A concealed handgun can be drawn and fired accurately in one or less. Gee. What's the solution???

They ARE seriously looking at Rep. Robert Rush's HB45, to register all the guns and license all the gun owners. There's only one reason to do that: to take the guns and the gun owners who resist it.
Right, David, they DON'T want to go there. I'm an easy-going guy, too passive, some say. I pick my battles. This is one I've already picked. If they take that fork in the road, we can be ABSOLUTELY SURE that they have terrible, horrible plans in mind for us. Maybe not THIS administration, but that's how it happened in the Weimar Republic in the early '30s. A benevolent government chose gun control to "reduce crime," and Hitler just used those -- wow, this sounds familiar -- "existing laws."
I say "it can't happen here" because WE WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN HERE.
They are the Titanic; we are the iceberg. Best that we never have to meet.

If these people were caring human being they would see that Roe v Wade was over turned.
These people have the blood of 50 million butchered babies put through very violent deaths, dripping off their fingers. These people lick that blood off their fingers and demand more babies die the same way.
You can bet your life on the simple fact if these same death worshipers take away American's arms they will be licking the blood off of their fingers that is your's and your family's.
There is NO other reassons these people will lie to the degree they have to disarm the American people if they didn't intend on killing many of us.
Again, the proof is: If these people happly lick the blood off of their finger of 50 million dead babies. The degree of their evilness is beyond our ability to understand. The American people better wake up very soon or its going to be too late.

I don't think my stepdaughter, my friend's cousin, a co-worker's daughter, are evil. Young, scared, hoping for love but finding only selfish sex from their chosen man, overconfident in their birth control or using it improperly or not at all... To them, it's not 50 million babies but one potential life prevented so an existing life has potential. Selfish? Maybe. But a child should not be a punishment for youthful carelessness or an accident. It should be a love gift willing parents give each other and the child.
I respect your right to an opinion. I'm libertarian, and so I believe that the individual concerned knows better than some government bureaucrat. Using the government hammer to beat others into misshapen images of ourselves is helping THEM see US as evil. Someone has to be the first to stop doing it. The only one who benefits is that pencil-pushing geek in a government seat of power. We know he's not on OUR side. He's on his OWN side, wanting to make puppets of us all.
Adoption is much to be preferred. But those "given up" even face years of self-analysis about "why they weren't good enough." It's an imperfect world. Demanding perfection from people just alienates them.

What? Why? Heller already gives them everything they want. They could care less about crime or a licensed, registered revolver. All they have to do is say your AR-15 or FAL is "dangerous and unusual". Or that registering them is "reasonable". Heller codifies a right as a state granted "privilege".

"the existing inventory of guns is vast, and people have real world incentives to defy gun bans."

Pretty much sums it up right there.

Defender, If you email me I'll give you the scoop on 50 percent of the woman that have abortion die from breast cancer. This has been proved in 27 different studies and that information is withheld from woman.

I noticed today one of my Obama posts linked to on KABA is now discussing planes disintegrating into the World Trade Center.

I work hard at this, and select what I want to present to stimulate discussion about that topic.

I can't control what they wander off into on KABA. But I will steer things back onto the track I wish followed here.

Thank you.

Very interesting read, well researched and presented, but I think most of his statistics are off by about 3%.
