"In response, yes, Oregon Statues allow concealed, licensed firearms BUT if you were an actual student of Western Oregon University you would already be aware of the fact that it is against campus policy to carry ANY form of firearm on campus."

April, I believe you've "hit the nail on the head". After a careful read of the original story as well as all comments it appears that most commentors are debating an "apples and oranges" situation..

Your state law allows concealed weapon carry. The Western Oregon University's policy doesn't. A university POLICY cannot override state LAW - Therefore no CRIMINAL CHARGES should have been filed against Mr. Maxwell. I would think that the most the university could do would be to take some form of ADMINISTRATIVE action if they wish to continue violating Mr. Maxwell's Constitutional rights.

If in fact, the university encouraged the improper arrest of Mr. Maxwell, I would suggest someone issue an abject apology and hope that Mr. Maxwell would write off the unfortunate incident to ignorance and continue spending his hard-earned tuition money at their school.

Good little socialists, mandating re-education until he bows to mindless authority.

Media types scream for more gun laws. Then we educate them on how some of the laws they say we need, we ALREADY have. They should be embarrassed, but that requires knowing what shame is for.
