Yes, I know that "Alamo" is Spanish for "Cottonwood". (That's one of my favorite trees, BTW.)

Now, let us remember the Alamo, and the sacrifice of the men who died for Texas Independence. Their deaths served as a rallying cry, and energized the men at the next battle, where Santa Anna was soundly beaten.
