When Lighters are Outlawed...

The nanny state has reached a new level of jaw-droppingly stupid ridiculousness. Meet Kansas state senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau, D-Wichita... [More]

Did you ever get the feeling our best and brightest may not go into government...?

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column explores a proposal that is as idiotic as I've seen--and I've seen some dumb ones.

You can also catch the latest from my colleague GREs.

Please share the link and Digg it--My last piece was on its way to the front page when the antis got a hold of it and buried it. They're on the lookout for killing our stuff, and we could use some help from those who perceive a value from our efforts.

Glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that, Bill. Brilliant!

The lighter in the photo even has the "safety device" that was supposed to save us all. When you flick the flint wheel, you have to hold down a tab to keep the fuel going to the tiny flame. Some even have a "trigger lock" that has to be rotated out of the way first. If you have thick fingers, it can be very difficult to do either.
Under 18?!? Maybe one will have to be signed up for military service to be trusted with a lighter. They STILL have to wait three years to drink a beer legally. Welcome to die for your country, but not toast its heritage of freedom...

Thanks Defender--your lighter comment just gave me today's Examiner column. I got to working on a comment here and decided not to bury it in comments to a day-old post.
