The Impossible Dream

Cleanup ATF [More]
www.CleanUpATF.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to returning integrity, accountability and decency to the management of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE or "ATF").
I know some folks who have a better idea.

Since the BATFE never HAD any integrity, accountability and decency - not to mention never having any legitimate function or authorization for their existence, any effort to reform them would be as useless as trying to convert the Mafia from a criminal organization to a Catholic boys club.

The Mafia, unfortunately, has a lot more integrity, accountability and decency than the BATFE has ever demonstrated.

They are both ugly criminal organizations, but if I had to deal with either one, I'd pick the Mafia.

This is the other kind of incrementalism, trying to reform the unreformable which should not even exist. No mission of the ATF is authorized by the Constitution. It's all an anal retentive's stretch of the Interstate Commerce Clause.
I too would choose the Sopranos over the Sullivans, the Marcianos over the Magaws, the Gravanos over the Renos. Basically, the Family doesn't LOOK FOR and INVENT reasons to f--- with people.

The agency's mission is repugnant to the constitution and is illegal under the constitution. You cannot return integrity to an organization that was founded on hypocrisy and in criminal conflict with the supreme law of the land.

The only thing that can be done with the agency that would bespeak of integrity is to abolish it, and decertify all its employees from law enforcement careers forever.

Since that isn't going to happen unless the shooting war is unavoidable, absent integrity there can be no accountability or decency.

"returning integrity, accountability and decency"Is that like a "gun buy-back" where someone who never owned the gun in the first place pretends to be getting it "back"?
