Right Attitude, Wrong Tool

"The National Parks Service has announced it will not challenge a court order that temporarily stops the late-term Bush administration policy of allowing CCW-permit holders to carry in National Parks."

...How many abuses and usurpations need we endure before people take to their pitchforks? [More]
It won't be pitchforks.

8:55, PDT. And now, on the Net, Justice Souter will retire. Is he coservative, or liberal? I honestly don't remember, but if he's conservative, then the Obomination will replace him with a liberal; they'll revisit Heller, and that will be the end of the 2A.

Souter is an arch-liberal.

Based on some of my readings of Dave Kopel and the speeches I've heard him give, I strongly suspect that his reference to pitchforks was symbolic only. Peasants storming the castle with pitchforks is the imagery. It's just that our pitchforks toss lead at high velocities.

For Crotalus:
Souter was thought to be "conservative" by some during his confirmation hearings but has, more often than not, voted with the statists. He's no loss.

The probem right now on SCOTUS is that the at-least-somewhat freedom minded justices are young, and the statists are aging. Keep in mind that length of time they typically serve. That means that mostly the statist will be retiring and be replaced by equally bad or worse statists.

And Soetero may get to appoint up to three in the next 3.75 years. So we will possibly have a court with younger statists than the nominally freedom minded members. Unless there is a truly freedom minded POTUS in office when the next round of retirements happen, we could end up with a court much more lopsided than Congress is at the moment.

Thanks for the comeback, guys. Obama will surely appoint a statist, and Congress will fall all over themselves to confirm him, but that looks like the status quo will hold, at least for now.

What do you suppose would happen if some helpful organization proposed that an EPA study be performed to ban certain minorities from access to National Parks as they are statistically more likely to damage the park environment...

Yeah, I thought so.

Christians and gun nuts, the underpeople of the 21st century.

They ignore our words on parchment, we ignore their words on paper. The rights will remain, for those who value them. I value them above my life.

Case in point: In a link above, "SAF Sues CA," there's this: "California uses this list [of "unsafe" handguns] despite a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court last summer that protects handguns that ordinary people traditionally use for self-defense."
Voted on by elected reps, upheld by appointed judges.
Sue? Well, yes, if Sue is a fellow Three-Percenter.

I didn't write the words you quoted above. They are from Alan Korwin's newsletter, but misattributed to me on the Buckeye Firearms Association website.
