I Can Feel It Coming in the Air Tonight

But if I were an MP today, I would make it my business to learn the course and the lessons of 1381 by heart. Then I would give thanks that there are no longer any chopping blocks at Cheapside. [More]
That could easily be rectified.

But what are they going to revolt with?

And would you "lend a hand"...?

No, I would not help. Not in any way.

One of my sons is like England. No amount of help helps. No matter what one does for him, he wastes the new opportunity. He doesn't learn anything, he doesn't pick up his own burden and I long ago realized that helping him was unfair to everybody. Waste always is. Therefore I stopped helping him years ago and would not help him now, and I love him. I do not love England so I sure as Hell do not intend to waste anything on them, though I may lament their downfall.

We have helped them enough to realize that as is the case of one of my sons, no amount of help will keep them from repeating the stupid behavior. So fuck 'em.

Two feet of iron pipe or half inch rebar can be a formidable weapon in the hands of a committed person. There are rocks in the fields and tree branches still for the taking in Merry Old. Stalk the armed minions of the government, for they will always be armed, and armed with the best. Wait for them to make a mistake, stray off alone, then strike. Once armed with their weapon you have better means to gather yet more.
Tactics such as these enabled a handful of weak untrained Jews to stand off the might of the German army for weeks in Warsaw. And some ideas do not change.
As for the Brits, they've made their beds and I'll be pleased to let them lie in them. Been there, nice folk and an interesting land. Won't be going back until they sort things out. And if their answer is Sharia law, won't be going back ever again except to deliver ordnance on target.

And would you "lend a hand"...?Hell no!That nation has been well and truly Eloi-fied.
The British people's very psychology has been changed, after decades of socialism, nanny-statism and politically correctness that has monstrously perverted traditional ideals of decency and common sense.

There's just no helping some people.
Stick a fork in them, they're done.

no, i would not go, but the popular or mainstream story of the invasion would be -- in so many words -- that we went to help the people, because of their oppressive government. were it not for the assured immorality of waging war, i can tell you, there would surely be no difference, save that those who declined be seen as cowards.

in fact, if you look at the things the UK government has been up to, they are a candidate for US invasion, by any historical standards that conveniently ignore economic opportunities of wresting geopolitical control from the target government.

so why aren't "we" there yet, do you think?
