We're the Only Ones Forgetful Enough

The D.A. believes OC deputies had "blue amnesia" – they lied, or conveniently "forgot" critical facts – when testifying in a case involving one of their own. It's the latest incident in a string of cases involving sheriff's deputies who allegedly covered up for their misbehaving colleagues, ranging from the D.A.'s allegations of departmental perjury and witness tampering...[More]
Keep it up. At some point, people are going to conveniently forget critical facts and cover up for their fellows who are fed up with "Only One" corruption and violence...

Some might just be prone to "red, white and blue amnesia"...

I've read that this is a big part of the "No Snitching" culture; not just "taking care of your own," but indeed striking back at law enforcement for years of acting the same way.

I'm not sure what to think of it, as more often than not it protects real violent criminals, but then again, what are cops "more often than not" but violent criminals?

Nothing's easy these days, huh?

So if the officer's made statements under oath to the grand jury that were materially different than the statements they made under oath at the trial they should be charged with perjury. If they are not charged with perjury, then the DA must believe that their misstatements were errors of recollection rather than deliberate acts.

So if these officers have such defective memories, then every defendant who has been convicted based in whole or in part on their testimony should be released. Furthermore if they ever are called to testify again their testimony should be thrown out (or at the very least the jury should be informed of their severe mental problems).

Quite true, Mr. Krafft.

A friend once asked me why I was so angry about the Duke lacrosse case. I explained: because of the incredible malfeasance on the part of the Durham PD and Mike Nifong, anyone convicted by those clowns over the last twenty years now has a cast-iron reason to push for a new trial -- even the ones who WERE guilty!

This sort of damage doesn't just result in fired personnel. Cases wind up having to be re-examined and even re-tried. Which costs money. And let's not even get into the corrosive effect it has on the remaining citizens who might still believe that the law is on their side.

"MORONS! We have MORONS on our payroll!"

When I first began reading War On Guns I enjoyed the occasional "Only Ones" article when there was one. Now, it seems Dave finds several a day which is but the tip of the iceberg type of thing since we know he can't possibly find all of them every day. It's representative of a trend with ever increasing incidence. Will the next "Only One" incident happen in your home town? Will you be the next "Only One" victim?

Nowhere did I hear the word "torture". Mebbe Orange County works under the Pelosi Rule. Hear no torture, see no torture, hey, that guy over there is torturing!
