We're the Only Ones Paying You a Visit Enough

They say a cop armed with a machine gun walked into their apartment unannounced, not realizing it was the wrong place. And now they would like an apology. [More]
Hey, being an "Only One" is never having to say you're sorry.

Besides, they were probably following approved department policy.

Breaking and entering. Trespass while armed.
Glad no one was killed THIS time.

I know there are a great many men who believe one should never apologize because it makes one look weak. Horseshit, a man not big enough to apologize when he is wrong is not a man, but a spoiled child.

Once it has been established that he is wrong and he still doesn't apologize the act deserving of an apology can no longer be considered a mistake, but must be considered an intentional wrong.

The best men I ever knew were not perfect men and like all of us made mistakes. However, they were never ashamed to apologize once the mistake was recognized as such. These were real men, not the phony poseurs we so often see in blue uniforms today.

I call this officer's manhood into question. Erase that, there is no question, he is a child, a spoiled child who is now pouting and refusing to own his mistake. Christ! My children were past that by the time they were 7 or 8 years old.

Right at the end of the segment the reporter says that recently 2 'highly-trained' only ones drew down on an innocent family! WTF?? Don't worry, the chief is 'looking into it.'

Well said SA. That was an early lesson taught in my house growing up as well.

It does take a big man to admit it.

1. An undercover officer recently found out that if you are armed you WILL ne killed regardless of what you are doing.
2. My legal understanding is that "breaking" involves the opening of a door, window, or other barrier such as cutting through a wall or roof. Entering means that a portion of your body crosses the plane of the barrier. You can breaking or entering or both. "Just sticking your head in" is definitely entering.
3. Doctors are now trained that a simple apology will probably save them a medical malpractice lawsuit. Treating harmed individuals in a respectful manner goes a long way to reducing real or perceived injury.

If the officer had stepped into the room to see what was going on, there might have been a mom with a 12ga firing a slug into his chest. She can't wait for him to identify himself before firing, because she knows that any man with a gun WHO BROKE INTO HER HOUSE is at an advantage.

We can't expect that only the residents are going to get hurt.

Officers in Oregon have to assume that EVERYONE is armed inside their homes. That's why we have knocking daytime warrants. Knock, identify yourself as LE with a warrant, and most folks are going to open up and help you find the address on the warrant.
