Reckon he traded his gun for the drugs ? If he was renting it for drugs that would be a really slick way to hide a crime tool, wouldn't it ?

See? That is why we need "Smart Gun Technology".
If an officer misplaces his duty weapon or trades it for drugs, or sells it on the black market in mexico...
It will only work when he gets the weapon back and it interfaces with his kewl-guy, FBI approved, Dick Tracy decoder ring!
