I Don't Know Nothin' 'bout Birthin' Babies

I've been asked by some readers to address the Obama birth controversy.

I've been advised by other readers not to touch it lest I be labeled. As if I'm not already.

I'm not one to buy into what politicians and "Authorized Journalists" have to say about things. But here's why I've been relatively quiet on this. I have my own conspiracy...I can't call it a "theory," it's more like a nagging suspicion.

It's that he can prove he was born here, but it serves his purposes for now to get his political enemies on board with the cover-up story. Perhaps he can even get some high profile politicians to bite. Then, when he thinks the net is as full as it's going to get, he can discredit them and make them all objects of public ridicule.

Which is why I suspect the Republicans won't touch it. Case in point, Tom Coburn, who has been on new shows assuring people he knows Obama is American-born, although why he is so certain is left unsaid.

I admit I have absolutely no proof on this, so I don't promote it because I can't say I truly believe it myself.

Thing is, those discrediting the "birthers" (which is itself a pejorative term) offer only ridicule. This came up yesterday on CNN, and the moderator and both his guests did their share of eye-rolling and casting aspersions on motives.

Telling your audience on a supposed news panel that people are kooks just because you say so while making fun of them is hardly a compelling argument. Whenever someone so transparently resorts to that, it makes their motives suspect--especially since it's the only response they offer.

The fact is, this could all be cleared up immediately if Obama would order the release of his original and actual birth certificate, not the computerized printout offered as proof.

If you're interested in following this story, my suggestion is to consult WorldNetDaily, which has done the bulk of the reporting and amassed quite an archive.

And that's about all I'll have to say on this matter unless something that changes the current standoff between accusations and stonewalling happens.

I've had similar thoughts from the start of this. In the first place, I have absolutely no doubt that Obama and friends could easily whip up any sort of "official" document they wanted. I'm sure they would have no problem planting any sort of "evidence" needed to prove whatever they wished.

So, the question is: why didn't they do that? Something as simple to fake as a birth certificate? Come on now. You can buy such a thing for a few bucks anywhere in the world. Doesn't prove a thing, really.

So, why stonewall when it could so easily have been provided, fake or otherwise?

Your suggestion that the whole caper was planned to discredit opponents seems right on. And doesn't that JUST sound like Chicago politics at their finest?

A pox on all their houses. I don't give a darn where he was born. A criminal is a criminal, regardless of his parents or nationality. Obama has proven himself to be a criminal... A true son of Chicago.

Birth certificate or not, his father was not a US citizen, therefore Obama is not a natural born citizen as required by the US Constitution.

The birth certificate is a distraction. If only the talking heads on TV can properly research and define "natural born citizen" as the founders understood it (from Vattel) then the blinds come off. SCOTUS has written on this issue.

like any other point the constitution makes, "natural born citizen" is left to the states, or to the people, to define. that means talking heads included, for better or worse. their job is information warfare; putting history into dispute. convoluted history means the masking of truth, and more power at evil's disposal.

this is a good example of the real war going on that so few pay any attention to: your government versus you.

Agreed. Been thinking along those lines for awhile. I figured sometime in the next campaign when he thinks he needs the boost, they'll seize on something some wacko says as "too outrageous to ignore."

Or, more likely, someone will leak the certificate (maybe even illegally) so Obama can be completely uninvolved.

From MINOR v. HAPPERSETT, 88 U.S. 162 (1874): http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=88&invol=162

"The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their [88 U.S. 162, 168] parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. "

It appears that if Obama's father was not a citizen (and this is well known) that Obama is not a natural born citizen and ineligible.

Get off the birth certificate distraction and focus on Obama's dual citizenship at birth, thereby making him ineligible for president as a non-natural born citizen.

David, its posts like this that show you to be entirely reasonable. Keep it up.

There are many children born in the U.S. to non-citizen immigrant parents (illegal and illegal) who are U.S. citizens and natural born citizens because they were born here, regardless of the citizenship of the parents.

Forgive them for they know not what they speak about.

anon 3:50 is correct.

straightarrow, a natural born citizen requires both parents to be citizens (by birth or by naturalization). Citizenship of both parents does matter!

Reminds me of the early days of denegating gun-owners as kooks. No rational fact-based argument so your opponent is just a "kook".

Personally I suspect that the problem here is that somewhere somebody has something about his birth that he and his handlers haven't been able buy-off yet. Can't imagine what it might be.

All I know is that I've had to present my proof of birth--on public property and in full view of the others standing around me--to all sorts of public servants for the purposes of licensure or passage. I realize that the Office of the President is just one more part of the fe'ral gov't that regularly breaks the law, so even if Obama wasn't qualified, it wouldn't be anything new--but it's such a small item and such a huge waste of time and money to hide it. Why?

Regardless of the truth or implications, we know that a certificate hasn't been presented. It is therefore worth the time to continue investigating. The federal government will waste tax money threatening investigators, accusing them of terrorism, or covering up the documents. This unnecessary waste of public treasure thus becomes political ammunition. They've got a paranoid, bunker mentality, and no reservations about burning through money like flash paper. Count on it.

The copy of Live Birth that is on the internet has seemingly been shown to be a fake. So a fake doc is being displayed as the real deal.
My hunch is this will come to a head in due time. I believe the military will step in but only after Obama and company are clearly out of control and the population at large is ready to march in the streets out of anger. Obama still has too much support so its too early for official action under actions of duty and oath to the Constitution.
This matter is not going to go away and will get more heated as time goes on.
The point that David made about setting up the members of the GOP doesn't fly. If Obama pulled that one it would be very clear that he did all of this and spent over a million dollars fighting the release of his doc's to play political games. This would make him look like one petty idiot.
Something is going to happen in short order of due time. Obama is just buying time because this will be a moot issue as most Constitutional matters will be.
