We're the Only Ones "Bully for You!" Enough

But in cases in which it's a defendant's word against a police officer's, the benefit of doubt often falls to the cop.

Except when there's video...

The clerk on duty the night that Lopez confronted Lawless told investigators that three times after the incident, police officers spoke with him about the security tape and that two asked if he would erase it. [More]
See, it's only a few bad apples. And of course:
A hearing to determine what discipline, if any, will be imposed on Lopez is still pending.
Nice. Assault a girl with a deadly weapon. What a despicable, cowardly sociopath. And these are the "Only Ones" the evil and the stupid think should be "permitted" to carry guns because they consider you and me--what were their words?--"untrained and dangerous individuals".

It sure as hell ain't "just a few bad apples". Those who refuse to drop dime on or actively try to cover up for the thugish/corrupt cops are just as bad.

For so many LE, the "brotherhood of the badge" is far, FAR more important than their sense of justice. And finding that out was how a 30-something, conservative clean-cut middle class white guy who's never had a worse run-in with LE than a traffic ticket, developed his "f___ the po-lice" attitude.

This line says it all...

"The District Attorney's Office reviewed the case and declined to prosecute Officer Lopez..."

Despicable.

Cops even came by the next day trying to browbeat the clerk into erasing the tape; and it was deemed to be acceptable behavior!

What a load of bovine fecal matter!

I wonder how badly this would have gone had an armed citizen not believed that this guy was a cop, because real cops don't act this way, and killed him?

Holy crap. Your "only ones" postings have been a real eye-opener for me these past few months, but this one seemslike on of the more extreme cases I can remember. Not only is this thug not being charged, but he's back on the job? Assault, lying in his report and to investigators? Dude needs to do time for this. We sure would. These are the people "protecting" us? Outrageous.
