Let's see here, there were three witnesses, all up close and personal, yet the police have made no arrests. Hmmmm? Seems to be a flaw in that plan.
Of course, employers don't want principled employees. Anyone willing to risk injury protecting the employer might be willing to risk independent thought, Can't be having that shit.
Best Buy should quit placing price tags on merchandise. Let anyone who wants an item of inventory just pick it up and walk out of the store.
Each store needs only one employee, somebody to unlock the front door in the morning. Hell's bells! just leave the store unlocked 24/7 and do away with the cost of the single employee.
Some fools are actually paying other fools to make these decisions. After reading quite a number of comments under the news story, it appears that there are other fools who agree with the idiot decision makers.
I guess it's really no big deal. The paying customers, tax payers, insurance companies, and loyal employees can pay for the criminals' thefts.

1950, store employee stops thief, gets commendation, small reward, considered for promotion because of "on the ball" attitude. 2009, store employee stops thief, gets fired. The wave of degeneration washes over, and what's left behind is unrecognizable. Things don't "change". They break down, rot, and turn into fertilizer. Then a generation comes along that has guts, determination, and brains and starts over. Or they do nothing and strangers come in an take it all.
