Grassroots, Furious Mike-Style

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would raise money for a national campaign to counter the political influence of the National Rifle Association...

...Bloomberg has already contributed about $2.9 million to “Mayors Against Illegal Guns.’’ [More]
What astroturf?

Anybody who can generate the groundswell of public support needed to catapult him to office has shown himself to be a true man of the people.

Anybody else creeped out and think it's just a bit sick, his being so desperate for power over others he'll spend a fortune buying it...?

His evil is breathtaking. Not content to enjoy his billions or use it to uplift his fellow man. No, he wants to possess and rule. He'll have a hot spot in hell.

In view of the history of past and ongoing legal troubles for that group, shouldn't we be calling them "Illegal Mayors against Guns"?

So...
"
the money would go to “explain to Congress’’ that federal law prohibits criminals from owning guns.
"

I don't understand... is he (a) going to explain/lobby Congress to tell them that the laws that they've passed prohibiting criminals from owning firearms do not work? or (b) does he think us criminals?? ...because what he is doing is trying to make guns unaccessable to anyone.

What a waste of good carbon.

No kidding:

Mayor Bloomberg joins Obama bandwagon; gives green light to raise taxes on middle classes

Mayor Bloomberg took his charm offensive to the national airwaves yesterday in praise of President Obama's stimulus plan and economic management.

He even offered Obama some cover to raise taxes on the middle class.

"The President has to deal with the reality, and some of the things are beyond his control," Bloomberg said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "He makes commitments and he tries to live up to them, and I think the courage of being able to say, 'Look, the world is different than I anticipated or what it was before, and I'm going to have to face that,' it's fine."
