The Wing-Nut Code

You thought they were just unhinged. But here's what they're really saying to the armed and dangerous. [More]
In "Art of War," Sun Tzu advised to know the enemy. I guess it's to our advantage that these leftist reactionaries are so out of touch with what's really happening in the heartland they think we get marching orders from corporate media.

Or to quote another great philosopher, "Eh, he don't know me very well, do he?"

But, as is my wont, my focus is on something else.

I notice AlterNet is pretty protective of their site content. For instance, they include this warning:
Reproduction of material from any AlterNet pages without written permission is strictly prohibited.
© 2009 Independent Media Institute. All rights reserved.
I wonder if they have permission to use all the images that appear in this story, or if they claim they all fall under "fair use"?

For instance, that William Kostric photo they used in the title post is an AP photo by Joel Page. I see no credit for it, and as they ought to know, AP has begun an aggressive campaign to charge for content. I use their stuff on Gun Rights Examiner, but that's because there is a license authorizing it.

I wouldn't be surprised to find AlterNet has a similar license, but lack of a credit under the picture makes me wonder. It couldn't hurt to ask AP if they do...at least it couldn't hurt us...

Be nice to monkeywrench these pinkos with this, get their whole damn left-wingnut effort scrutinized and dismembered...:)

We're the Only Ones "Don't Do Us Any Favors" Enough

George Boggs thought he was doing police a favor last week when he handed over the firearm he kept in his car after he was in a wreck. [More]
And now the "Only Ones" won't give it back until they fire it?

Our guns good. Your guns bad.

Yeah, it's outrageous, but really, George--I'm having a tough time feeling sorry for someone who volunteered for abuse.

Fourth Amendment considerations are now being raised.

I don't know why anyone would think authorities who don't respect the Second Amendment need to give a damn about any of the others.

Do You Feel Lucky?

The assumption from the beginning was that I would never keep the gun...My wife insisted on it. (I believe her exact words were: "There's no way you're bringing that thing in the house.") [More]
And what, exactly is his wife prepared to do about it if someone decides to bring a "thing" in the house in defiance of her command?

So let's see, after going through five pages of explaining all the ridiculous hoops he had to jump through and listening to him emote self doubt and rationalize his abdication of adult responsibilities, he ends up not keeping the gun?

I guess it doesn't occur to him that the people who don't jump through such hoops--the people who can get a gun in D.C. any time they want-- would laugh at the foolishness of it all? Right before they turned their attention to his wife, and assuming he's still able to scream through the duct tape...?

But that never happens to lucky people, does it?

A Big Fan

I'm a big fan of the Second Amendment. [More]
Which is evidently why Ted Rall just urinated all over his keyboard when someone actually exercised the right.

Yeah, Ted, it's all about race hatred. But why didn't you tell your readers what color the guy with the AR is?

And no "goons threaten[ed] to assassinate the President," you liar.

But let's just say the government listens to your fascist dreams and declares us enemy combatants.

Ted, you stupid infant, you irresponsible monster...

How many men like me would you have them kill accomplishing your goal? And what makes you think we'll allow ourselves to be "bundled off to Bagram" quietly?

Hey, when it comes to "Only Ones," six is a few, right?

And yeah, I read it's a privately-run prison. Hey, it's all sanctioned by the state, and economic fascism just expands the opportunities for abuse.

We're the Only Ones Dreamy Enough

Security on the George Washington Bridge has been sound lately - sound asleep. [More]
Say, that's some security! Especially since the likelihood of the bridge being the target of a terrorist attack was deemed serious enough to warrant fortification.

And yeah, I know these sleeper agents aren't TRUE "Only Ones," like these guys...

Hamblen Makes Case on Video

We've discussed Richard Hamblen's case before.

He explains his case in a special You Tube video.

Motorhome Diaries summarizes:
Upon learning how woefully underequipped the Tennessee State Guard (which was created by law as an armed reserve force for the National Guard) was (21 rifles for 3,500 individuals) Richard bought weapons for himself and his soldiers. His actions resulted in the involvement of the ATF, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Supreme Court and a prison sentence. His case details the conflicts between US vs. Miller and Heller vs. DC and ultimately questions how the Second Amendment is being interpreted.

Police Group Lauds Citizen Militia, Right to Purchase Guns 'Without Restriction'

It's an excerpt from the Law Enforcement Digest titled "Firearms Control in the United States: The Position of The National Police Officers Association of America."

This Day in History: September 3

The American flag was flown in battle for the first time on this day in 1777, during a Revolutionary War skirmish at Cooch's Bridge, Delaware. Patriot General William Maxwell ordered the "Stars and Stripes" banner raised as a detachment of his infantry and cavalry met an advance guard of British and Hessian troops. [More]
