Gun control claims yet another victim. Just like in the robbery case, the actual killer is a mere accomplice to the crime. The REAL criminal is the city government, who have effectively disarmed the citizenry and left them stripped and ready for violent criminals to prey on.
But, in the long run, she remained personally responsible for her own life and safety. Yes, it is too bad the government denied her easy access to self defense tools... but ultimately we all have to decide what is important to us.
If she needed to move to a place where she COULD have a gun - or decided to carry one regardless, she could have done so. Unfortunately, she chose to trust government to protect her and her faith in them was badly misplaced.
But we all have real choices, inconvenient as they may be.
And when will people learn that "orders of protection" are just pieces of paper, and anyone who is determined to harm or kill anyone won't be turned back by a piece of paper.
Which brings to mind an interesting comment made by Joseph Stalin in the late 40s. The Pope verbally objected to Stalin's forced takeover of some Baltic states. To which Stalin replied: "How many divisions and tanks does the Pope have?"
