We're the Only Ones Offended Enough

A rarely enforced Tennessee state law was enforced Friday in Dickson when a police officer pulled a woman over for displaying an offensive bumper sticker. [More]
I guess they didn't have anybody running around in a clown mask to focus their enforcement resources on.

I don't know what offends me more--that this was allowed to happen, or comments by total police state tools like "Law Dawg."

How about one that says "Tennesee doesn't recognize the 1st Amendment"

The comments from the badges and their fluffers were certainly puke inducing.

Badge-fluffers.

I like it.

A term is born.

I use "badge lickers" but I'll have to add "badge fluffers" to my repetoire as well.

"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." - Ayn Rand

I dropped a comment over there. The stupidity coming from the "badge-fluffers" (I LOVE IT!) is really just ... nauseating.

a citizen has no right not to be offended, and government employment doesn't confer any special privilege beyond that.

"Should a driver and officer disagree on what's offensive and what's not, the decision would be left up to a judge."

note that all this authorized journalist cares to note is the argument over the substance of expression, not the inviolate right to express oneself.

A friend of mine used to have a small sticker on his motorcycle that read:
"How do you call the cops on the cops?"
He managed to ride around with this for a few years without any problems and it actually brought about some interesting conversations. Finally he had the misfortune to break down a few dozen miles from any town. A guy pulled over with a pickup truck and was willing to haul them to town. Problem was the guy was an off-duty LEO and told him that no way and no how would he allow the bike with that sticker on his truck. My friend and his bike did get a ride into town - minus sticker.

Being as the cop was under no obligation to give him a haul - it was up to him to set his conditions. I guess my friend was lucky that he didn't get pulled over by the same cop for any moving violations.

I used to have a sticker on the rear bumper of my car that read:
"Wasted Youth - F*** Authority"
(it's the name of some punk-rock band - but I just liked the sentiments of the sticker)

I never had any real problems about the sticker - but I remember watching a LEO double take on it once when writing out a ticket for me! The sticker finally crumbled and disintegrated off the bumper all on its own.

I'm offended by the big stickers tax parasites put on the doors of their cars that say "Police".

I find little more obscene than a lie. Therefore, I expect to be writing citations for any cop I encounter who has the lie on his cruiser "to protect and serve". As that urinealist said, let the judge decide it.

Do you reckon all those badge fluffers would support that enforcement of the law? Or could it just be possible that they're throwing another crying jag temper tantrum? Like, it isn't like they're not known for it, like.

I need that bumper sticker myself. My 4 legged boon companion rides with me frequently and she does fit the description stated therin.Wonder if the lady had a dog with her??
