What Slippery Slope?

They stressed they were not trying to ban trapping, just the sale of fur. [More]
But why stop there?

Why not leather?

And meat?

Vaillancourt sees his bill differently.

"I think this is perfectly in line with the libertarian philosophy of live and let live," he said.

What a twisted example of double-speak. Do as we want under penalty of law being touted as live and let live....

To Make: to cause to act in a certain way : compel

Vaillancourt said he is aware the new bill doesn't have much of a shot of becoming law, but he vowed to reintroduce similar efforts in the future.

"I do not suspect this will pass, but we will continue to try to make mankind slightly more humane," he said.

We will continue to try to make mankind slightly more humane...

With the understanding that those who won't comply will be punished as an an example to others. How humane. How progressive.

I suspect his claim that this is in line the libertarian philosophy of live and let live has to do with including animals in that philosophy. Shows what a numbskull he really is regarding libertarian philosophy.

If they were really interested in live and let live, they'd leave people and things alone, and stop dreaming up ways to throttle capitalism. Animal rights activists are one of natures' cruelest jokes: Communists intent on controling nature, when they are unable to control themselves.

And, of course, we've been all through this with the wolf thing in Wyoming and Montana.

Ban the sale, dry up the market, voila! No more trapping! No reason for it. And those banning sales of an item know very well how that works. They have the same plans for the ammo market. No ammo, no guns, whether by people no buying them, or by rendering them into awkward clubs by virtue of no ammo. But there WILL be a black market for ammo.
