Isn't that unlawful detention...or is this "Only One" able to "lawfully" do this to anyone he wants?

Having had a few moments to think about this, teaching him to fear someone who would do this to him under color of authority may just be a valuable, albeit unintended lesson she just taught the child.

the way i see it, the parent has absolute authority.

in this context, these police resources and that officer are a disciplinary tool just like any other, and they're public property goods and services.

for the most part, had she just taken him home and slapped him around, nobody would really notice or care. and if they did, it wouldn't be on the grounds that, as equally interested parties in the commons, these other people now assume a right to judge her use of the commons. it would be about the theory of raising kids. they'd have to concede that while they don't agree with it, they have no right to get involved, lest someone do the same to them.
