We're the Only Ones Unprovoked Enough

David Palmer said he was pulled over in the 1000 block of East Carson Street early that morning. When Trooper Nassan approached the driver's side, Mr. Palmer said he told the officer he had a permit to carry a concealed firearm and a gun in his pocket.

"Nassan, without reason and without provocation, violently struck plaintiff in the head, neck and face," the lawsuit said. [More]

So much for complying with the law requiring permit holders to disclose the information during traffic stops. Based on Nassan's proclivity for making sure he gets home at the end of his shift, it sounds like Palmer's lucky to be alive.

It would appear that these paragons of law enforcement rightly fear some justified killing. They are certainly earning it.

Think about this, as this becomes more and more commonplace people are going to start considering the approach of any officer to be a lethal threat. Some of them are going to act accordingly and "shoot to stop the threat". Though tough legal ground, it can no longer be argued that the moral ground for such decisions is shaky.

When the backlash comes and the cops become even more predatory and murderous in the "crackdown" many who would have waited until accosted by them will start actively hunting them. There will be bounties paid for them.

One can expect there will be four million police resignations shortly thereafter, minus,of course, the dead ones. All criminals are cowards, not all cowards are criminal, but it becomes increasingly apparent that all law enforcement in this nation is criminal in nature and intent.

That is a situation that no society can tolerate without the spilling of much blood. In America, unlike other nations, the citizens have the ability to spill blood also. To date our almost inexhaustable tendency toward peaceableness and our respect for the law has prevented epidemic spilling of cops' blood. But when our respect for the law dies, as those in law enforcement are so desperately trying to kill it, so does our peaceable nature.

As with all tyrants they confuse respect, courtesy, and lack of zeal for violence with fear. Because of this, I believe that war is inevitable. These people are just too stupidly arrogant to learn and will force it.

SA,
I'm afraid you might just be right. Threat assessment is based on past performance and the record being established by the shining examples of the thin blue line (with its attendent long yellow streak) indicates that these deviant in uniform be engaged upon contact at the maximum possible distance. I couldn't vote to convict anyone who responded in just that way.

Its sad really. I'm sorry that I missed Officer Friendly's funeral, but it is abundantly obvious that he is long dead.

That's some last paragraph. A 12-year-old shot in the back. Chsed as a suspected car thief, and I guess the fin officers just got tired of running.
Speaking of Only Ones: COPPELL, Texas - ...the mayor of an upscale Dallas suburb apparently shot her 19-year-old daughter to death before fatally shooting herself, police said Wednesday.
