Did New York gun owner who fired warning shots save lives?

True, what he did was not "by the book." I can't say I know of any professional who teaches firing warning shots. But it worked and nobody was hurt.

Except for George Grier and his family. [More]

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column commits heresy against "conventional wisdom".

Hell, if I couldn't do that, I'd have nothing to write about.

Also get more on the pending ATF hearing, revisit a disarmed vet and watch me talk T-shirts with a guy in a suit.

Uniontown is on the part of Long Island right across the Hudson from New York City. Westchester County. Haven't they been in these pages recently?
Tha authorities have given their tacit approval for these gangs to operate against their constitutents, and now people are upset when the best and most reasonable response is used. When an aggressor doubts that his victim has the will to use force in defense, or that the weapon is even real and not an AirSoft look-alike, a shot into the ground can be a convincer. Mr. Grier should be commended, not prosecuted. Liberty Belles suggested writing NY Gov. Paterson, and I have.
When gangs are ALLOWED to rule, the authorities should expect an increase in similar line-in-the-sand acts. It is better to be prosecuted as someone who CROSSED some bureaucrat's line than mourned as a good law-abiding but dead person who stopped at it.

Just a clarification from the above post. Uniondale is a town in Nassau County NY. It is a lower economic area and mostly black and hispanic. Nassau county is pretty large and only has 4K police officers. I've been around where it has taken them 45 minutes to respond to a call. There is a terrible problem here on Long Island with the MS13 gang. The thing that gets to me always is that because an incident takes place in a black or run down area there are folks that assume everyone is a criminal or low life in these areas. That just ain't right. Like this home owner there are lots of poor working slobs that are trapped there. They have to deal with all nonsense of drugs and violence and gangs. They go to church, they work, and they do the best they can. Sometimes they get into situations like the above. I agree with David that this guy in my eyes did ok. Not by the book yup, but screw that. He was the dude there at the time. No different than bringing up Blackwater guys or Navy SEALS on charges for what they have to do in Iraq.

Thanks. I remembered the "Union" part but was too worked up to go back and re-read.
I believe doctrine says to shoot the apparent leader and see what the others do after that. IF you have that government license.
