I'm surprised it took this long.
The next step, after the "gun show loophole" and the "private transfer away from gun shows" loophole are closed. Once they have a mechanism to register everything that's being bought, they want one to register everything that's already owned.
The next-to-last step, I'm thinking. If the owners who trot down to the police station get their registered guns back, it's just a temporary loan.
Good thing we're not Zimbabwe (except for certain large and medium-sized cities where people trust the government more than their common sense and presume to accept tyranny on behalf of EVERYBODY).

Maybe we need a campaign that provides methods and strategies on how to NOT comply with the law.
