The assault seems to be going over quite well with the neocon crowd in the comments at that site.

Seems that many folks believe you have to "OBEY MAH AUTHORITAH." To hell with the Fifth Amendment. If one chooses to remain silent, it's apparently OK with these folks for an "only one" to mete out "justice" in the form of a beating.

Little wonder we find ourselves in the predicament we're in.

Since this kid had had run ins with THE LAW before, there's little wonder he chose to remain silent.

But at least that's nothing a little non-judicial punishment won't solve.

A suspected participant in the gang fight, or just a possible witness? Hardly matters anymore.
Beating people who have nothing to say about ... a beating.
I wouldn't want to leave the comparative safety of that school bus either, Quanell.
That smirking police chief sees enough reason for an investigation? Well, yee-ha. We know the outcome already. The young man must have "lifted a finger," literally. I guess he didn't get the warning.
The chief is black, like the broken-jawed young man, by the way. Weren't civil rights for everyone supposed to improve with equal opportunity?
