A Real Good Job of It

“I’m new and different,’’ he said in a soft voice. “But I realize that deep inside me there is still that ugliness, and I know that I have to deal with that and control that, and I’m doing a real good job of it.’’ [More]
Far be it from Massachusetts to try something new and different...

Drug addict, armed robberies, assaults, escapes, homicides. What in that list of antisocial behaviour could possibly have been a clue that he might also have been a convincing liar who was smart enough to manipulate the system?

I'm guessing that the members of the parole board are all college graduates with letters after their names who are convinced that they are too intelligent to be fooled by a stupid criminal.

Lesson for the day:

1)Education does not equal out to intelligence.

2)Criminality does not equal out to stupidity.

"Cinelli had a lengthy criminal record for armed robberies and assaults... to feed his heroin addiction."
But legalizing drugs would lead to rampant chaos and the collapse of society.

I think governments, like insurance companies, calculate risk of loss vs. possible payout of benefits. A new poster boy for gun Prohibition costs a few innocent lives, but it's worth it.

David,
Cinelli the "alleged" shooter in this is an "Only Ones" son...
from the Boston Herald
"Cinelli was the son of late Boston police officer Arthur Cinelli, whose other son, also named Arthur, shot and wounded Medford Detective Sgt. Richard McGlynn in a 1981 robbery, according to news reports."
Nice group of boys you raised there Art.

Brian, good work!
It's almost like there's some kind of pattern...
The son of the former police chief in my county was a serial bank robber. They blamed a mental condition. Chiefy got a building named after him.
I'd hate to be held responsible for the "mistakes" my adult children have made or may make. But then, I'm not out there telling the peons to do as I say, not as I do, with a short temper and a license to kill.
