We're the Only Ones Unfortunately Incidental Enough

A police involved shooting is under investigation after an officer wounded a man who turned out to be uninvolved in the crime in question.

"This was a very unfortunate incident," Suffolk County Police Chief Dominic Varrone said. [More]

Yeah, no kidding, Chief.

I just wonder how much more unfortunate it would be if it had been the citizen who panicked and accidentally shot your unidentified "Only One."

A Matter of Trust

The recent murderous attack on the Togo football team in Angola, stressed the need for African governments to take actions to control the proliferation of guns... [More]
And who better to trust with a monopoly on arms than African governments?

Unberievable!

At least two people have been killed and two others injured when a gunman opened fire at a bar in western Japan, officials say. [More]
Aw, go on...

A Blow for Public Safety

Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) announced today that the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) has announced its support for his bill, H.R. 3752, to modernize federal firearms laws to increase public safety and ensure proper protection for law enforcement officers. The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) Improvements Act of 2009 would improve current law to permit qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms. [More]
But all you and I get to do is watch.

I wonder if we should send them a bottle of mouthwash?

We're the Only Ones Off the Record Enough

“One of the officers asked me whether my phone had audio recording capabilities,’’ Glik, 33, said recently of the incident, which took place in October 2007. Glik acknowledged that it did, and then, he said, “my phone was seized, and I was arrested.’’ [More]
Besides, what possible legitimate interest could mere citizens have in overseeing public "Only Ones" activities and conduct? Haven't we learned by now that's private...?

Increasing the Potential

In this country, law-abiding adults should have the right and the means to protect themselves in their own homes and in public places, such as streets and sidewalks.

However, carrying a weapon onto school campuses increases the potential public safety risk. [More]
Yeah, we saw that at Columbine and Virginia Tech.

Oh, wait...

Big "but" idiot.

No Less Deadly

True, a fully automatic weapon can fire far more rounds per second, but the bullet from a semi-automatic weapon is no less deadly. [More]
Or how about deadly bullets from bolt-action rifles? We'd better ban those, too.

Besides, the Globo-Cops are for it, and any group that embraces "law enforcers" from such bastions of liberty like Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Central America, etc., must be something Seattle "progressives" like Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle, and Sen. Adam Kline, D-Seattle would also want to embrace. After all, tyrannical regimes have the potential to be no less deadly now than at any other time in history.

I note they have not banned him from having hands.

Also find out about a new threat in Oregon and get the latest from my fellow GREs.

Tell a friend? Seriously, will you send them the link? I'm probably going to write about this at some point, but if you perceive that you get consistent value from here or from the Examiner columns, I need your consistent help to spread the word and grow the readership.
