It would be foolish to assume that certain people do not want this looked into. It just seems turning on the lights is the most prudent course.

I freely admit my prejudice in being willing to believe this. These are people who send underage or otherwise prohibited decoys with fake IDs to buy alcohol and cigarettes as well as guns.
I don't know why they'd go to the trouble of physically smuggling the rifles to Mexico so they could be "captured," returned and traced. They could just SAY they were seized there, and Mexico could agree, and who'd know the difference?
But if an FFL writes Y instead of Yes in a Yes/No column on a form, he's in BIG trouble.
But don't worry, the new crop of Republicans has been sworn in in the House. They'll get right on this -- led by Eric "PATRIOT Act/No Guns For DC" Cantor, who made a pretty speech about smaller, more responsible, more efficient government. THIS time.
