Casper Turns Unfriendly

“I would like to see a policy in that if someone shows up with a weapon, and they want to come down and visit with us, we should have one of our armed police officers accompany them down, and that would probably slow ‘er down more than anything.” [More]
Is there some influx of migrant Californian nest-foulers happening there or what?

Maybe they could have gunowners wear a special patch or armband in public, or pay a special tax.

Council members are terrified by the public they supposedly "serve".

I don't suppose it has occurred to the council members supporting this ordinance, that each is still responsible for his own safety and security.

This is an incredibly stupid thing to do in Wyoming.

They've been making noises about this for a long time and especially had their nickers in a twist when the "permit" was eliminated.

Daubin has it pegged here: "... noting there has never been a gun related problem at a Casper City Council Meeting."

Politicians, as usual, busy making problems where there are none to start with. They are terrified someone will question their "authority."

Can't wait to see what Anthony says about this. :)

What are the hoplophobes afraid the public will find out? They must be doing things that would piss off the public.

I am a member of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Every year a group of us (in past years up to 1,000 or so) assemble in Richmond on MLK day, or, as we put it, "Lobby Day".

Most of the folks who are of legal age are armed, and those of us with a CHP are allowed into the General Assembly building with our firearms.

Imagine - up to 1,000 armed citizens prowling the halls presenting the group's analysis of various gun bills to our respective representatives. I've been going for the last three years and I can state for a fact that at no time has there ever been so much as a misdemeanor charge leveled against any of our group. So much for "blood in the halls"...
