Cornelius was arrested in 2008 for beating up his wife. He pled no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence and was placed on 3 years probation. His probation just terminated. [More]True, but his Lautenberg disability didn't.

I thought seriously about posting a link to the story on my facebook page and making a comment as to how the laughable Lautenberg Amendment didn't save him, but so far haven't been able to figure out how to word it so I don't come off sounding like a heartless shitheel.

Since he shot himself, his Lautenberg disability should have functioned to protect him from committing domestic violence against himself, but it didn't. Maybe he could have seen a judge and gotten a restraining order requiring him to stay a thousand feet away from himself at all times? No, that wouldn't have worked any better than the Lautenberg crap did.
