Reading the comments to the original article, I saw a reference to a police officer who was diagnosed and received a disability for "pilots shoulder", a condition that I did not know about. Did an online search and did not find it, but found this gem, a discussion of airline pilots committing mass murder/suicide by deliberately crashing an airplane:

How is this relevant? We see many call for stricter gun control after a mass killing, especially by the non-adjudicated mentally ill. Airline pilots are routinely medically evaluated and work as a team with other highly trained and intelligent flight crew. Yet, some pilots still intentionally crash planes for non-political reasons. Recently, other pilots and flight attendants have had outbursts of onboard bizarre behavior that did not involve crashes. How do you prevent this from happening? I see no one calling for the grounding of all flights, similar to what happened for a while post 9/11/01. A workable solution offered by the article that does not completely solve the problem is to ensure that a third flight qualified person is in the cockpit, so that a single pilot cannot alter crucial switch settings unobserved.
