Bloomberg coalition mayor under investigation for ‘gun crime’

While allegations that Schiliro waved three handguns around, put one to his head saying he didn’t want to live any more, and made a hostage threat may be difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, the accusation that he fired his gun into the floor is substantially supported by police removing from the premises “a spent projectile, a section of wood with two holes [and] three 9mm bullets.” [More
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report spotlights yet another official projectionist who doesn't trust US with guns.

Gun Violence and the ‘War On Drugs’

We need to have an open, objective dialogue about this unwinnable war, and discuss public policy options and implications. [More

Paul Gallant, Sherry Gallant, Alan J. Chwick, and Joanne D. Eisen have put out an important new paper.

Note all the calls for "a national conversation" we've seen to date have to do with making those of us who have nothing to do with this more vulnerable to both sides profiting from the status quo.

Make no mistake--this is what made Fast and Furious possible.  This is what makes MRAPs on our streets, and militarized police and no-knock dynamic entries inevitable.

A Simple Word

"Assault." [More]

I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised I am to see this appear on a mainstream news site.

As for the AP Stylebook, well, it's not like them having an agenda should surprise anyone.

And what would those be?

Gosh, I certainly don't know anyone like that.

And I'm quite sure Gov. Shicklgruber knows exactly what it will do.

Joaquin Jackson... [Read]

Some of us have been beating that drum for a while.

So naturally, he's still the darling of the Nominating Committee.

In terms of cleansing the board, there's really only one way.

But I just don't see it happening.

A Political Gap

A push to expand gun owners' rights in Georgia has exposed a political gap between the long-powerful National Rifle Association and a more strident group seeking to expand where people can carry weapons. [More
Funny. I didn't find them strident at all.

I know whose side I'm on.

Losing Sight of What's Important

Many of you sent me links over the weekend about the SWAT guy who installed his EOTech sight on backwards. [More]

Amidst all the well-deserved ridicule, there are some important questions not being asked, such as:

Who is this guy? How dare he deploy with a weapon when he obviously does not understand some of its fundamental operating mechanisms? Who is responsible for training and certifying for competence before turning these guys loose on We the People?  And why is it New York has, by law, declared guys like this the "Only Ones" trained and trustworthy enough to keep and bear such arms?

Not the Only One

A Colorado sheriff says he won't enforce two aggressive gun-control measures waiting to be signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper. [More
Doesn't he realize the only ones who can pick and choose which laws to enforce and ignore are on the other side?

It will be interesting to see what moves are made to make an example of him.

We're the Only Ones Ringing Out the Old Enough

A federal prison guard has been charged with shooting his own finger in a drunken attempt to remove his wedding ring during an argument with his wife at their northwestern Pennsylvania home, police said. [More]
Just imagine that if a highly trained "Only One" could do this, how much more dangerous you or I would be with guns.

Gee, What Could Go Wrong with That?

“I believe that the best way to interrupt the shooter is to have a mental health system that actually records and enters into the database people who should not be able to buy a gun,” Graham said. [More]
Blanket dragnet, anyone?

As long as we're including folks, just remember that breaking up is not only hard to do, it's also prohibitive.

And there are some who'd like to include anyone on a government enemies list.

If you know who they are and where they are, and if they're a threat with guns, wouldn't they also be a threat with box cutters, fuel oil and fertilizer, gasoline and matches...?

Say, here's an idea:
WE WON’T STAND FOR SCAPEGOATING
NO NEW GUN LAWS
DENY SUCCESS TO MASS MURDERERS BY ABOLISHING PHONY ‘GUN-FREE’ VICTIM / KILLER ENABLING ZONES NOW
WORK WITH US OR WE WILL WORK TO RETIRE YOU

I sure wish Wayne would beat on that drum, instead of roaring "Let them be damned!" as the crowd goes wild over the tone and rhetoric, not a one of them evidently noticing that his primary "solution" is to expand the police state and secure "Only Ones" elitism...

I Am the Eye in the Sky

Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind, I can read your mind

This Day in History: March 18

My letter to Congress a copy of which I inclose your Excellency will inform you of an unsuccessful action with Lord Cornwallis on the 15th. Our prospects were flattering; and had the North Carolinia Militia seconded the endeavors of their officers, victory was certain. But they left the most advantageous position I ever saw without scarcely firing a gun. None fird more than twice and very few more than once, and near one half not at all. The Virginia Militia behaved with great gallantry, and the success of the day seemed to be doubtful for a long time. The action was long and severe. [More]
