We're the Only Ones Approaching the Bench Enough

A police officer mistakenly fired his rifle Wednesday morning while in a Miami courthouse in front of a judge. [More]
And he "was there on official training business"!

Naturally, "there’s nothing unlawful or against policy about him having his weapon" and "Police have  not yet released the name of the officer who fired the gun."

"But questions remain, including “Why was the gun loaded during training?” and “Should the safety have been on at the time”?"

You think? And don't they ingrain trigger finger discipline in their "training?"

Accident? My foot.

“Why was the gun loaded during training?”
Why indeed? When we trained, there was no live ammo anywhere in the area. Even mag changing drills, the mags were checked every time the trainees traded places. Even though we knew they were empty, they were checked anyway.

“Should the safety have been on at the time”?
Why wasn't it engaged? And this guy is supposed to be a training officer. Anyone caught with their safety off on any of our ranges without permission was subject to discipline. The worst of which was to be declared "unk" (unqualified). For a Marine, that's almost as bad as being called a deserter.

I think this clown need a remedial training class to learn what a safety is and all about loaded mags and what they look like.

He's really lucky he didn't hurt or kill someone. Too many people are killed with "unloaded" weapons.
