D'Souza / Palmer to Appear on Armed American Radio

I just received this press release from Mark Walters:

It's a Small World After All

I figured yesterday's column would be controversial.

A well-intentioned Facebook friend commented thusly:
Are we all assuming that these new arrivals aren't going to want the same things we do? I think that might be a bad assumption. As David just said: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Can we not co-opt them as easily as the progressives have?
That presupposes assumptions, rather than observations, were made. The burden is on anyone challenging the piece to address and refute each specific documented claim by presenting superior counter-documentation before making the ...uh... assumption that they are invalid and moving the discussion on to a new track. And in re suggesting it's just as easy to co-opt, again, the burden is on the proposer to flesh that out and explain what evidence he has to suppose that. Who is making assumptions here?

"Can't we all get along?" sounds like a great plan. I'm game. As long as getting along doesn't result in more dangers, burdens and infringements, and fewer Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. I need more than a hopeful heart and platitudes here. Flesh out how "we" are going to  do it.  And how easy "easily" is.

I was pleased to receive the following via email from WarOnGuns Correspondent JM, who has agreed to let me share it here:
Outstanding article on immigration and gun control! I just emailed it to several of the Vdare.com writers, so hopefully one of them blogs about it. As a matter of coincidence, the NRA sent a letter to me today asking me to sign up. I think I will print off and include your column in my response!

One other point: if people calling themselves "libertarian" or who follow Koch Brothers funded establishment type "libertarians" who are generally pro-gun rights attempt to object to your article, you can always respond with this by the guy who literally created the modern day libertarian movement.

Rothbard starts on the immigration issue on page six. He remarks how he completely changed his views on free immigration when he witnessed Russia encourage mass immigration to Latvia and Estonia to destroy their culture and language during the fall of the Soviet Union. On page nine, Rothbard references how Latvia, Estonia, and Switzerland dealt with mass immigration by refusing to allow the immigrants to vote - thereby maintaining their values and culture.

If the founder of the modern day libertarian movement is not enough, here is another major figure in the modern day libertarian movement making the same case, albeit in much greater detail.

The main point Rothbard and Hoppe make is that this isn't "free labor" - but instead centrally planned economic policy in the form of mass immigration by the government since the market is not making these decisions.
Read that last sentence again. Who is co-opting whom here? And for what purpose?

The Waterboy

Today, (Wednesday July 30th, 2014) Circuit Court Judge Toby S. Monaco granted motions to dismiss and for summary judgement in favor of his alma mater and granted sovereign immunity to UF President Manchen. The lower court Judge ignored the plain language of multiple Florida firearms laws, multiple binding court cases from Florida and the US Supreme Court, turned to blind eye to university policies that are promulgated in continued violation, and refused to conduct any analysis of the right to keep and bear arms. [More]

Threat to gun rights of accepting illegal immigrants largely ignored

Mandatory universal background checks to obtain a gun are among the current demands by those who insist the government does not have enough information and impose enough control and restrictions on U.S. citizens. The theory, unfounded, of course (and an obvious precursor to registration), is that conducting them will reduce violent crime. Still, if one is to credit backers of such measures with being sincere, it makes little sense to demand background checks in one case, but to not only turn a blind eye, but to attack people for advocating doing them on the intentionally undocumented. Everytown ‘gun violence against women' video makes great case for armed defense

PSAs, offensive anti-gunners and fondling notwithstanding, all the illusion-making and manipulation in the world, can’t completely mask the inconvenient truth that those behind the ad would rather see a woman and her children murdered in their home than have an accessible, working gun. They would rather she be torn apart by multiple assailants than have a firearm with the magazine capacity needed to repel and defeat them. They would rather see her violated and murdered on the street than carrying a handgun, openly or concealed. [More]

Run Where, Exactly?

I sent them this reply, referencing a Knoxville Gun Rights Examiner column by Liston Matthews I linked to earlier this month:
So is he going to answer this?
http://www.examiner.com/article/gun-rights-quiz-for-dr-ben-carson

How about some unequivocal specifics to undo some of the damage he has done to his credibility with gun owners? How about running toward addressing their legitimate concerns, instead of away from them?

Or should I instead convey the campaign's silence and avoidance?
UPDATE: Well, I got an answer for Liston:
It is very unlikely Dr.Carson will be able to respond to this, he has been very busy lately. His book tours are very time consuming, and you would have to contact him directly for a response. The Draft Ben Carson effort is not associated with Dr.Carson, meaning, we can not communicate with him by law. However, everything Dr.Carson has stated concerning gun laws is below. Rest assured, he certainly does support the 2nd Amendment.

Does Dr. Carson support the Second Amendment? - Yes.***** Dr. Carson wants to keep guns out of the hands of mentally impaired individuals and violent criminals, and he fully supports gun ownership for law-abiding citizens.

Some of his comments include: “To threaten the Second Amendment rights of ordinary American citizens is itself insanity. Those wishing to ban all assault weapons fail to understand the original intent of the Second Amendment.”

"I used to think they (guns) needed to be registered, but if you register them they just come and find you and take your guns."

"If we were only concerned about external forces, then we would be okay, but there are some pretty sinister internal forces."

"I truly believe in Second Amendment rights. I would never advocate anything to interfere with Second Amendment rights; however, I do think we have to be intelligent."

We need to engage in a discussion about, 'Is there something we can do?'" (about keeping guns away from criminals and mentally ill people.)

"We have to keep in mind that law-abiding American citizens absolutely should have gun rights."

Thanks,

I intend to be very careful about this, not read too much into things yet, and urge caution from all. The exuberant but undisciplined, infiltrators and provocateurs could do some very simple things the media could then amplify to horrify those who know no better-- and there are a lot of those.

UPDATE: I called the Metro PD  media contact person to try to get a copy of Chief Lanier's order, and have not heard back.  Dave Workman beat everyone to the punch on that, and quotes it along with bringing us developing information in his column today.

NBC uses unqualified psychiatric ‘experts’ to disparage gun defense

If there are actual informed, scientific method-derived conclusions here, NBC failed to produce even one. In this case, they may as well have asked Stephen Marder, DJ Jaffe and Eve Herold what hesitation on acceleration and a “check engine” light on the dashboard signified, and then asked them to fix the problem instead of consulting a qualified mechanic. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The good -- this comment, left under yesterday's column by WoG Correspondent "russn8r":
Your philosophical forefathers also had courts in NAZI Germany, the Soviet Union, Communist China, communist Mexico during the Cristero Wars, communist Cambodia, Rwanda, Guatemala, Turkey, and other places, to "protect" the people after you disarmed them with gun control. Yet tens of millions of defenseless victims were murdered BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENTS after your gun controls disarmed them and left them totally defenseless.
The bad --  the comment has not appeared and has been "awaiting moderation" since yesterday. That probably means the Prozis have been flagging it as "offensive."  It also reflects defective moderation, as several times over the past week they've let spam comments through that I've had to email them about with delete requests.  And they also let vicious troll comments through, which brings me to...

The ugly -- the comment was in response to a troll (that is, a demonstrable sadist-psychopath / infiltrator/disruptor), who in typical "progressive" fashion, along with demanding no guns and urging everyone to join Everytown in the various steaming piles he's dropped all over the comments section, tells a pro-gun woman to "Please have that fascist gash of yours sealed so as not to produce defective brats we have to support" and then concludes "She's probably a lesbian anyway."

I find it encouraging.  The totalitarians have nothing else, and every time they resort to Alinsky Rule 5, which is every time they troll, they further demonstrate that for "progressives," every day IS Opposite Day.

Desertions of soldiers engaged for the war continue, or have rather encreased. A steady old serjeant, corporal and three men have gone off from the 5. Good for her. She's right, you know.

As we've observed before, amnesty will create millions of new Democrats, and when that happens, "gun control" will not be checked at the polls or in court confirmations. It IS a critical component of that "single issue." Anyone who says otherwise is an apologist liar.  You'll note they didn't raise the same objections when NRA (quite properly) took on McCain/Feingold.

So look how Carr does against Alexander.

Per NRA, Carr even does better than Alexander on guns. (And note Lamar's GOA rating.)

Halbrook presents lessons of Nazi 'gun control'

This is an important lecture with much fascinating and useful information. One note for those who may, after watching, be disappointed that Halbrook does not make a big deal about -- and actually is not particularly supportive of -- ascribing Nazi motives to latter-day Lagerführers: He is a scholar, whose work must be accepted in academic and legal circles, and once you go from being a researcher/recorder to ardent, agenda-driven polemicist, those doors get slammed rather quickly and permanently. His value is where he's at doing what he's doing, presenting honest findings. [More]
This morning's Gun Rights Examiner report notes the truth is out there -- but it's up to us to help make it known.

We're the Only Ones Uncertified Enough

I got an interesting suggestion in comments to another post on how to deal with anti-gun police chiefs.
I wonder if there is a process there where citizens could petition to have every Chief supporting that act decertified as law enforcement officer for violating their oaths. If they lose their certifications, they can't be Chief's. If that IS possible there; rinse and repeat as necessary until Chiefs understand that support for something so outrageous WILL cost them their jobs.
That certainly is both a rational and a reasonable assumption for anyone not living in the Bizarro World.  For those of us who are:

Tell that to Charles Ramsey.

The proposed ordinance is here (pp 26-27).  It's not quite brightly-colored plastic squirt guns, but it's nonetheless pretty damned presumptuous and obnoxious:
EXHIBIT "A" SECTION 51.10A CARRY AND CONCEALMENT OF AIR GUNS AND OTHER REALISTIC FACSIMILES OF FIREARMS. It is unlawful for a person to carry openly or to conceal within one's clothing any spring-loaded, compressed-air, or other BB gun, airsoft gun, paint ball gun, pellet gun, or replica of a firearm on or into any public street, alley, highway, sidewalk, public way, public ground or public building, or within an automobile on a public roadway, without written consent of the Council, except in the manner specified for transportation, and in the manner authorized for concealment, by the Iowa Code pertaining to firearms. A person who violates this Chapter shall be guilty of a simple misdemeanor.
I understand Councilman "No Fool Like an Old Fool" Phlegming is pretty upset that he was the one holdout still demanding that supplicants seek his Solomon-like wisdom and consent. There's nothing that says you can't still ask him for his permission before you make any decisions, if you'd like...or anything else you'd like to say  to him...

Race-tailored tactics used to disparage black gun rights advocates

Such accusations, routinely leveled at white gun owners, have been pretty much absent from that “national conversation on guns” the antis say they want to have. In their place are “progressives” hurling racist ridicule at gun rights advocates of color, but those attacks have mostly been for daring to depart from the official party loyalty line demanded by collectivist plantation overseers. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner commentary notes the motive may have been repackaged, but it's still enslavement.

Good for them. They ought to move their headquarters, too.

And these folks ought to step up and do their part to disassociate themselves from anti-gun states, unless they think training gun-confiscating stormtroopers to prevail is consistent with the reasons activist gun owners support them.
