I just can't wrap my head around the idea that simply owning a firearm, with NO CRIMINAL HISTORY, is considered by some 'people' to be worse than child molestation, spousal abuse, and narcotics trafficking.

If legal possession of weapons waives your civil rights under law, and if that waiver is found convenient and useful by the government, what makes you think that they will not expand that waiver?
