Painful to Watch

You guys are not doing yourselves -- or anyone else besides those who ridicule you -- any favors. And careful where you point that thing. [More]

And yes, of course there's such a thing as bad press.  You just facilitated some. And no hearts and minds were changed.

We can't be so eager for publicity that we place ourselves in "no win" situations, where there is no practical way to exploit the venue and just the opposite will result. Plus, well, it oughtta be obvious...

I haven't been following Free Keene closely for some time, so I can't tell just how much of that was "creative" video editing versus truth.

The basic truths spoken to by the Free Keene folks last I heard was that the initiation of force is always wrong, and that government agents' use of force for things like fines over matters that do not involve violations of individual rights (such as the right to life) is also always wrong.

I can't say that I disagree with that premise.

Nor can I shed a tear if a government fee collector quits his job because he doesn't like being told he's a thief.

True, Colbert's video editors sure did a number on the Free Keene folks no matter which way you slice it...

According to Free Keene's website, they were working with Colbert and had some of that footage shot earlier this year.

To that end, David is absolutely right - doing that was a no-win situation for Free Kenee.
